“Best for me in Barcelona”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2011

Yes, its hostel, where in some room we have common bothroom. But it is enough bathrooms and toilets for all rooms, and it is clean. I saw, that the guy from resepshen hiself cleaned bathroom that there was a constant cleanliness.
At us was big (very big for Europe!) room with windows and small balcony on street, but room which window to the lift was little bit noisy and not so big. Rooms was very clean. Free wi-fi in hotel and if you dont have computer you can use free computer before terrassa.
The price and an arrangement of it hostel its fantastic for Barcelona. Very friendly and useful personnel - help, stories and explanatories were useful to us very much.
If you come at night, probably, there will be a problem with an entrance (since this is ordinary house, and is not present constant watch), contact to hotel before.
In the street, where the hotel - many discount shops is located, it is pleasant to girls very much!
In next arrival I will stop here if will be places coz hostel it is very popular!

This hostel is very clean and modern. The rooms were very spacious and there were sinks in each room. The communal toilets and showers were individually separated so very private. The showers were also very powerful and clean. This was my first trip to Barcelona and the owners speak very good english, advising us on the best places to go and how to get there. As our flight home was not until the evening, the hostel owners also stored our luggage while we went out for the day. This hostel is about a 10-15 minute walk to las Ramblas or a 2 minute walk to the metro stop. I would definitely recommend.

I stayed here for 5 nights, 35E a night for one person. Location - it's about 10 to 15 min walk to everything, which is ok. Bear in mind the downtown area is closer to the action though so on the super hot days and nights it was a bit of a struggle to get through all the blocks. 4 blocks from Passeig de Gracia. Good things include the free wifi, daily room service (incl fresh towels). That was a nice touch. The share bathrooms were ok, but it would have been nice if the shower holders actually held up the handheld shower part (most showers in EU you can hand hold but will have a holder so it functions as a over the head shower). One of the showers was missing a door so water went everywhere. There is a supermarket and bakery 2 blocks away. Depending on who you get at the reception they may or may not know much about the area. Still they were always helpful.

Room Tip: Try and ask for a room which doesn't face the inside.

Stayed there for a few days and it was actually not a pleasant stay. The rooms are not sound insulated at all, you can hear all the noises from the hall, doors banging, elevator noise, people talking (Spaniards know how to talk loud and passionate). You can and also hear street noise and even the metro when it drives below the building. One of the showers was out of order in the time of my stay, one of the toilets had a constant smell. There is a computer available in the lobby, but the internet connection is so slow, that it's actually useless... I do not recommend staying there.

Read the tip below and check the prices, as they differ for the same room!

Room Tip: They sell themselves under two different names - first one is Violeta hostel and the other is GI39...

The location was very good, near 2 metro stations within a short walk. Staff were friendly and helpful. They always asked if we would like something or if everything was ok. Room was clean and well decorated. We got the room which the window opened to the walkway to elevator so it was not good to left it opened. At night we can hear the sound of metro running frequently but not so loud. Shared bathrooms also clean. And the living area was very nice and cozy. There was an outdoor table where we can sit and relax in the evening after going out. This is the best part of the hostel. If we were to go to Barcelona we will be choosing Violeta again.

This hostel is tucked away just outside the Gothic neighborhood, just off Passeo de Gracia, close to metro stations and bus stops. The staff was extremely helpful and even called the theater to reserve tickets!
