I needed to stay in Barcelona one night to wait for my connecting flight. I asked at tourist information at aiport for hotel and (finding that there is a regular bus to airport) asked for a hotel in the city. They offered this one at a good price (well under list price). I am very pleased I took it. It has lots of old fashioned charm and it seems to be in a busy part of the city. The room was warm, the bed was soft, the shower worked, I couldn't hear anyone rearranging their wardrobe. Perfect. If you are obsessed about breakfasts then this wouldn't hit the mark for you because it was basic.

We stayed here for a long weekend (three nights) at the end of February 2012. The hotel was easy to find and dead close to the Catalunya Metro Station. On check in we were given a friendly welcome and a photocopied set of instructions for avoiding pickpockets and thieves as well as some useful general advice from the receptionist.

Service was friendly but our room was disappointing - small and very hot. The room looked onto an internal light well and was mostly dark. The bathroom had no window or ventilation and a single flourescent light. The minibar was surpisingly reasonably priced (2 Euro for a can of San Miguel, 1.5 Euro for a bottle of water) and there was a vending machine on the ground floor.

The depressing room was ok for a three night trip but we'd have struggled if we were there for longer, it certainly wasn't the sort of place where you'd want to chill out. Also the acoustics of the lightwell meant that if someone was talking loudly at the bottom, it sounded like they were sat next door to you.

Breakfast was ok - there was a lot of it and service was friendly but coffee was from a machine and the milk was UHT. We ended up nipping to the starbucks nearby to get coffee with fresh milk.

What was amazing about this hotel was where it was only a few minutes walk from the Ramblas and Catalunya. We also walked up Passeig de Gracia to Casa Batllo one morning and it only tool about 15 minutes. We were also happy walking back at night. We'd read a lot about pickpockets and muggings but we didn't once feel uncomfortable, although it wasn't at the height of the season. There was no safe in our room so for 5 Euros we rented a safebox from the hotel and left our passports in that.

We enjoyed our trip but we would think twice about staying here again, mainly because of the heat of the room and the lack of facilities e.g. coffee/tea maker, safe in room, ventilation in bathroom etc. But the service was lovely, helpful and useful.

My friend and I stayed here last weekend and cannot fault the hotel in any way. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially at reception and in the breakfast room. Although our room was very small and had no view other than out into an internal light well - it was more than adequate for our trip - we only used it to sleep in. The breakfast was ample and very nicely presented. The hotel we thought was ideally placed for sightseeing - 5 mins from Las Rambla and Plaza Catalunya, what more could you want. Excellent. Would definitely use again and would recommend to anyone.

Room Tip: From the map of the hotel itself rm 253 and corresponding rooms on other floors would be at the back...

Visited for a weekend break with my mother and sister and had lovely time in this clean, comfortable and welcoming hotel. Beautifully furnished in old style spanish furniture. Great location, breakfasts simple continental style but tasty. Would definately return and plan to do so as soon as possible.

My wife and 2 friends spent New Years Eve in this small hotel this year. we had been a bit put off by the emphasis on noise and thin walls but were agreeably surprised to find ourselves in a reasonably sized room with a large bathroom, where the window looked out on nothing much but a quiet nothing much! Seems a good idea to ask for a non street facing room as there was some noise from neighbours but not anything extreme. Very well situated, decorated in a very Spanish colour scheme ,friendly staff and not too expensive. No garage except nearby public one at about 30 eoros for the day but even on this busy day there was room. Buffet breakfast convenient and OK though 3 rather than five star I would say.Altogether well worth a look for central Barcelona

Room Tip: Ask for something with windows looking onto internal well rather than outside world

If you want five star luxury and all the fancy bits then this hotel is not for you. However if traditional spanish is what you want then this is the place to stay in Barcelona. Very authentic, friendly staff and a buffet breakfast that would do justice to any five star. The city never sleeps so why go for the more expensive hotels when you are never there. Go for it!!!!!!

Good location etc but oh the walls are thin, the neighbours got their clothes out of the cupboard at 6 in the morning and you would swear`they were in the wardrobe in my room! Could hear a man snoring all night and had to whisper if u got home late. Not a place for enjoying the Barcelona nights and sleeping in, only for the early risers.

Room Tip: There are no quiet rooms as they all have one wall neighbouring another room and the hotel is busy a...
