“Great location & price!”
Reviewed 8 April 2012

Hotel Gaudi is located just steps off of Las Ramblas and directly faces Palau Guell. We stayed twice, pre and post cruise. Precruise we were on the 4th floor and post cruise on the 5th. Rooms on both levels were good, with great views of the Palau Guell fairy chimneys on the rooftoop, although if I were to choose one level it would be the 5th with a corner room. The corner rooms seemed a bit more roomier. Breakfast was excellent and our last day we had to be to the airport prior to the breakfast room opening and were provided a breakfast to go. I thought that was very thoughtful of the hotel to do! I had read previous posts about the rooms facing the street being noisy, but we did not find that to be a problem at all. However, we were there mid January, which is lower season. We had drinks at the hotel bar one evening and the bartender was very accommodating, we did not try the restaurant though. I would definitely stay at the Hotel Gaudi again. Easy walking distance to the Picasso museum, hop on/off bus stop, and other sites.

Room Tip: fifth floor, corner rooms

I have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Hotel Gaudi and was quite worried due to some TA reviews, fortnuately the hotel was excellent. The beds were very firm and i slept like a log, we were in room 116 which was at the back of the hotel and was very quite getting the sun until about 7 in the evening. the breakfast was good too, typical continental with restaurant over looking the Palau Guell.

One hint is to go to the top of the hotel in the lift (floor 6) and go out onto the balcony where you can have fantastic views of the city down to the harbour and up to the mountain.

All in all excellent little hotel literally steps off 'La Rambla' offering incredible value for money.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel are very quiet and get good sun in the evening.

Very friendly reception, even the rooms on lawer floors are big enough. Window or balcony door closed excellently so that no noise was to hear. We liked the view of Pallau Güell very much. The service in the bar was not so excellent, but with all the restaurants and bars near to the hotel this was no problem.

I was very excited to be going to Barcelona for the first time. So many of my friends had travelled to this world famous destination, and practically everyone returned with happy, fun tales of the city.
Although, I loved every minute of my week in the Catalan capital, the Hotel Gaudi was a very big disappointment.
As a solo traveller, I had to put up with a small, dark, cramped, very noisy, and reeking of cigarette smoke, internal room.
I have know Idea why, it can advertise itself as a three star hotel. The only positive thing I can say about the place is that the location, which is just off Las Ramblas, is perfect for getting to all the tourist attractions, the beach, and anything else you which to discover.
The city is so beautiful, and I would love to return, but will stay anywhere but this hotel.

Ok - perhaps five stars is half a star too much but this hotel has a great location and is very good value for money. The hotel is situated in a little street just off las Ramblas and easy walking distance from Placa de Catalunya. We got the aerobus from Barcelona airport to Placa de Catalunya 5.20€ each and walked down Las Ramblas- good fun in itself- enjoy the living statues!
I had prebooked this hotel 7 months in advance as a surprise 60th birthday present for my husband. After trawling through many reviews for hotels in the area - I was totally hooked on the idea of this hotel with a view over the amazing Palau Guell. I emailed the hotel and told them about my plan and Monica was exceptionally helpful - not only did we have a room with a view of Palau Guell but we were on floor 5 with a balcony with two chairs, sun lounger and table. The hotel even greeted us with a bottle of fizz to celebrate my husband's birthday.
The room - although not huge- was absolutely fine , very clean- with french windows out onto the balcony - there were also slatted shutters which kept the room cool and secure.
We had no problem with any noice from the street but I assume that is because we were on floor five and the balcony pushes the room back from the road.
The breakfast was fine - the usual selection of pastries, fruit, cheese, meat, scrambled eggs, 3 different cereals, yoghurts, bread rolls, bread for toast, a juice machine with two different juices, hot drinks machine etc- but of course you may still want to venture out onto Las Ramblas.
My only issue is the lack of tea/coffee macking facilities and the lack of a fridge- which must be annoying in the height of summer. However the hotel has a small cafe where you can get snacks and drinks until quite late - there is also a vending machine for water and drinks on the restaurant floor. But anyway Barcelona is a city which carries on until very late - we had no problem getting a meal at nearly 11pm.
The hotel is in an excellent location for exploring the Barri Gotic,Port Vell, the Cathedral and it was easy to pick up both of the tourist buses. Loads of nice little restaurants/ bars/ shops etc nearby. Enjoy an evening wathcing the world go by in Placa Reial- just the other side of Las Ramblas
Palau Guell is well worth a visit- but the view over the ornate chimneys is wonderful.
This is a great hotel for the price, very clean and in a great location. We found the staff very friendly and helpful - Monica especially brilliant- she always replied to my emails.
We had an early evening flight back to the Uk but were able to leave our cases in a secure space at the hotel and also used the hotel public areas until we returned to the airport.
I have no hesitation in recommending Hotel Gaudi- great venue in a great city

Room Tip: get a room overlooking palau Guell - we had 519

This hotel is perfectly located just off the Las Ramblas, opposit the Placa Reial. Across from Palau Guell. Close to most attractions within the city.
The hotel is simple in decoration but very confotable and the rooms are well maintained, comfortable and clean. The hotel staff are polite and helpful and speak good english.
This hotel is excellent value for money, we booked a room with a balcony which had a good view of the city.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Barcelona and great value for money! A good find!

An ideal location just steps from La Rambla, Barcelona's "main drag" and across the street from the Palau Guell, a major visitor attraction makes the Hotel Gaudi a good pick. Furnishings are simple, but clean. The breakfast buffet is excellent. Overall, this is good value for money.

Room Tip: rooms at the back have no real view but are very quiet. There isn't much of a view from the fro...
