“Not enough value for money”
Reviewed 24 April 2012

Two days before the weekend my friend and I decided to visit Barcelona to watch the match Barca-Real. I checked Tripadvisor as usual to find a good Hotel in the center to make a reservation. At this very last moment Casa Camper seemed to be the only Hotel that had a free room left.
We agreed on 281 Euro per night, not cheap but since the Hotel was seeded nr 1 on the Tripadvisor list we decided it was probably worth the money.
The Staff was very helpfull, the food was okay.
The room however was painted dark red and the floor was covered with black marble.
We could hardly see any daylight.
Although wannabe design everything in the Hotel seemed to be constructed with cheap materials.
We completely missed the idea behind this all.
The service was great indeed, location good, food okay, the view poor, the shower was great, but no bath to be found...
For half the prize we had to pay this Hotel would have offered good value for money in our opinion, but I must admit we lacked te time to compare it with other Hotels in the center of town.

We spent 1 week at Casa Camper in Barcelona recently. I based our decision to stay at Casa Camper on reviews from Trip advisor. We loved staying at Casa Camper and it was the right choice for us. The reviews were all true, helpful and friendly staff (shout out to Georgina and Allessandro), great location, well appointed rooms, great breakfast and snacks. We traveled to Barcelona during Easter week and the city was inundated with tourists. Casa Camper is located on a small side street 2 blocks from Las Ramblas and is an oasis away from the bustling crowds in the city. We stayed in one of the suites and like the set up with the connected sitting room. The hammock in the sitting room is a great feature and now my husband wants to put up a hammock in our sitting room at home. He spent many hours lounging in the hammock after a long day of site-seeing. The bathroom was modern, well appointed and large which is not easy to find in an Europe. The 24/7 snacks were a life saver when we wanted a little afternoon snack before dinner or some extra bottle water or tea at night. It is a wonderful concept to have free snacks offered 24/7!....thanks. I would definitely stay at Casa Camper on our return trip to Barcelona and recommend to anyone traveling to the city.

Room Tip: If you want your sitting room connected to your bedroom/bath then opt for the suite otherwise the si...

Clean, even the floor under the bed is cleaned. Friendly, only 25 rooms so the staff recognises and welcomes you when you enter. Instead of one room you have two, opposite each other. One is a nice mini lounge with a bed sofa, tv, table chair and a sturdy hammock. With a balcony over the entrance in a narrow typical old town street. The other is a relatively large bedroom with a walk in shower, toilet, washstand, bed and plenty of storage. It has a window to a patio and it is thereby amazingly quiet. The hotel is full of technical gimmicks to save energy. The whole is of a modern design with plenty of examples of clever thinking like a power socket in the safety box so that you can charge your computer or camera when stored away safely. The staff is really helpful. The breakfast with eggs etc made to order and special teas is tasty start. The tables all have clean linen, a nice touch of luxury. And the whole day long one has a free choice of softdrinks, tea, coffee and a diverse array of home made snacks. A perfect break for the weary tourist. Who can also enjoy the roof terrace on the 6th floor. A 5 minutes walk from the airport bus, close to Plaza Catalunya an ideal tourist location.

Casa Camper lived up to the rave reviews. Helpful, friendly staff, great location in a quiet street a hundred yards from Las Ramblas, ingenious rooms, decent breakfast. The restaurant next door has the same name but there's not much connection with the hotel - worth a a visit, though for its Asian fusion tapas. Not too much light in the bedrooms, but that's about it as far as criticism goes. And pay a visit to Elisabets just down the road. Catalan home cooking, no English spoken - I got pigs trotters, indicated by the ageing waitress pointing to her feet!

We've had the good fortune of staying at a variety of exceptional properties WW (e.g., St. Regis, Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, etc. to boutique venues), and while their service is quite good, it pales in comparison to that offered by Casa Camper. The difference appears to be the genuine sincerity afforded by the Casa Camper Barcelona staff.

We traveled with a 4 month old infant, and everyone, from the gentleman who picked us up at BCN to the chief, was attentive and accommodating to our needs. They recognized that we were sleep deprieved parents, so they went out of their way to make our stay extremely relaxing. For example, they helped setup our lounge area with our son's gym and toys as well as stored his bottles in their kitchen fridge. Every morning, we were greeted by multiple hotel staff members who desired to feed our baby or simply play with him, so we could enjoy breakfast.

As other reviewers noted, the location is fantastic as its quiet at night, yet you can easily access las ramblas and walk to other sites (e.g., Picasso museum, cathedral, etc.) And, naturally, the 24 hour snacks, 'huge' wall map, and complementary Mac with wifi is extremely helpful.

Room Tip: We contemplated a suite yet selected a deluxe King on the 4th floor. The separate lounge was actual...

This hotel is in a great location. with lots of great places to eat nearby, Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. My husband and son loved the hammock in the lounge. Loved the 24/7 snacks. We would definitely return to this hotel.

We arrived at Casa Camper after a 5 hour drive from Arles. We are 2 adults and 2 teenage boys. This was the perfect hotel for us. The free (quite delicious) 24 hour snack bar, the good breakfast and the surprisingly quiet yet modern rooms were a real oasis in the midst of the busiest pedestrian part of the city (do note, that it is a bit hard to find, or to park if you are driving to the city, ask for specific directions in advance). The service staff was terrific. They helped us with directions, suggestions, restaurant and shopping recommendations, including some less touristic spots. We would especially like to call out Georgina who really went out of her way to help. We would not stay anywhere else in Barcelona.

Room Tip: The suite is quite good for four.
