First of all, as many people have mentioned there are a lot of stairs and that's the first thing you're gonna notice about your stay here. That said, we were fully aware of this before booking. We went with our baby and a pushchair and the stairs did become a chore, especially when the lights turn off after a few minutes unless you reactivate them.

Overall though, our room was clean and the staff maintain the place well, cleaning the rooms and bathrooms daily. Our towels were also changed every 2 days. The bathrooms and toilets are communal and during our stay a few disrespectful guests would leave lights on, leave dirty towels on the floor and not clean up after leaving hairs in the shower or bottles of shampoo. That's not the fault of the staff here but it is worth mentioning that you will be sharing these facilities. The rooms come with aircon which was great for us after a hot day of walking around Barcelona.

This pension is in an ideal location in the heart of the Gothic quarter, just a short walk away from La Cathedral and La Rambla. You'll find plenty of places to eat within a 5 minute walk and a large corner shop just a few meters away from the room.

The pension even did a basket of clothes washing for us for 7 euro (although they don't normally do this) we were staying for 6 days and had a bunch of baby clothes to wash.

Dear Brad,
Thank you for your comments.
As we explained you, you can leave the baby stroller downstairs so you don't have to bring it up and down everytime. However, we are not responsible for any items left outside the hostel premises (which are just the flat 2º1ª), that's why we recommend to bring up the strollers at night and store them in the reception.
The lights on the stairs have a timer (it's something common to avoid irresponsable use of electricity) and it's true that sometimes it turns off in the worst moment, but it happens to all of us, believe me!
Concerning to the shared facilities, we really do try to maintain them clean. Not only the cleaning maid, the receptionists clean the facilities at least once during every shift and keep mopping the floors and removing trash constantly. However, depending on how many people are using the bathrooms at the same time, if some of those people don't respect the advices on the doors and leave everything messed up and considering that the receptionists might have some other work to do, sometimes you'd find the bathrooms dirty, of course. During your next visit you can ask for a room with private bathroom.
We really hope to see you soon! Regards,

The location of this place is great! We were walking distance to La Rambla and so many great food and shopping locations. The metro was also so close it made getting around the city easy breezy.

There were a lot of stairs to climb and no elevator, so at the end of a long day of walking, it wasn't my favourite thing to climb them, but it wasn't terrible. The room itself was very cozy, the only annoying thing was the room was located right by the main check in area and the guy who worked at night often had sports games on, and the TV kept me up a little bit. I imagine the other rooms are quieter, and not everyone would be bothered by that.

There was also a little kitchen area where you could get filtered water and put some groceries in the fridge, which was very nice.

Dear Krista,
Thank you so much for leaving your feedback! We're really glad that you enjoyed your stay with us.
It's true that the first room (next to the reception) isn't specially quiet because of the front door but you shouldn't have any disturbance from the receptionist. We'll talk with the night staff right away to solve this problem.
Thanks a lot for your understanding. Please, conctact us for your next visit to Barcelona.

(Stayed with 3 friends) My only negative is: on the first night, I found my bedding wasn't clean. But this was quickly resolved by the receptionist who immediately provided me with new bedding and covers.

I'm glad the negative is out of the way because other than this, I have to say our stay here was excellent. The staff were amazing. Extremely helpful, nice, and honestly great people.

Another great thing you'll love about this hostel is that as soon as you walk onto the street, there's a little grocery store to your left. We would pick up a bottle of water & some fruit every day before we left for the day. We found this to be quiet budget friendly and helpful.

The location is also great, you're in the middle of all the exciting places. Just make sure you're ready to climb the three flights of stairs back up to the hostel after a long day!

It was pretty quiet when we stayed there. The atmosphere was relaxed and we all managed to sleep fine with no noise etc.

All in all, great place to stay. Next time I visit Barcelona, I would stay here again.

Dear guest,
Thank you so much for your feedback! Sometimes, even if we wash the sheets with hot water and first quality products, some hard stains won't go off. We check this when making the beds but unfortunately that day we missed the sheet in your bed. We're deeply sorry about it!
We're glad that you enjoyed your stay and we're looking forward your next visit!

We stayed in one of the private rooms in this hotel/hostel. The room was everything that we needed. It's smaller than you're use to (if you're from Canada/USA) but your stuff fits well.

We were in the first room when you entered the hostel (not sure if there were room numbers associated with them or not). Everything was clean and well maintained - furniture seemed new. The bed was comfy. There was a large wardrobe to hang things up - we used it mostly for towels and some clothes - but no drawers. The room had a/c which was nice. Room had a private sink. We had a great balcony (small) which opened to have a stunning view of Tibidabo Mountain in the background. We had to keep the door to the balcony closed during the night as the noise from the street could be loud (people, not vehicle noise).

The location was great. Within walking distance of lots of things (La Rambla). If you can't walk to the attraction of our choice, this place is located within a 10 minute walk of two subway stations (Barcelona has the best transit system I've ever used) which is really convenient. This is how we got around the city. We mostly used the subway, but also the bus and the funicular (all included if you buy an unlimited multi-day metro pass)

Be warned that this location does not have an elevator. The exterior is well marked and easy to find. It's located on a pedestrian only street (although scooters will still use it) so you have to walk off the main street if coming by car or taxi (many of the streets in the Gothic Quarter are too small to handle vehicles). You buzz when you first arrive and they will let you in. There are yellow signs posted in the stairwell (on the right) to guide you up the 4 flights of stairs. Once you're there you will have keys to the building, suite and room.

The staff here was really nice. Everyone spoke English either really well, or well enough to be clear when explaining things. There was someone at the desk 24/7. Free internet worked well in our rooms. Like other hostels, there is a common kitchen for your use. You can keep things in the fridge. Restricted hours foir kitchen use (I think it was 8am-10pm). Shared bathrooms were fine. There had 2 rooms for bathrooms (private) and two private shower areas, plus one larger one (private) that contained a toilet and shower. I never experienced any wait for the use, although my gf did need to wait for a shower one morning. The bathrooms were kept clean and things were well kept.

Only bad thing is that you need to pay for printing (50 cents a page). We had to print our boarding passes. Free computer (desktop) in the main lobby which was nice.

Great place in a great location. Would recommend and would stay again.

Please hit "helpful" to let me know if it was! Thanks!

Dear Baltzer,
That was probably the most detailed comment I've ever seen. This kind of comments help us A LOT! We try to provide all the information above but usually people won't read the property comments, since they prefer to rely on other guests experience (what's for the best) and I'm sure that anybody who reads your comment will find it extremely helpful. On our side, we just want to say that we're very glad you had a good time in our place and we really hope to see you soon!
Best regards from all the reception staff

It's an old part of town, so expect to walk up a LOT of stairs with your bags, and don't expect sound proofing. However, the staff was very friendly and helpful; the location was wonderful for sightseeing, accessible by transit, and close to the port. The price is a huge selling point, and our room was perfectly charming. We only stayed a night, but I would have been happy to stay longer.

Room Tip: They are all on the same (high) floor. You'll need to use a key to get into the building, floor...

Thank you so much for your feedback! We know that the building has limitations but we like to think that the value of a historical building compensates them. Of course, the stairs are not suitable for all targets but as long as your're in good shape, we'd be really happy to welcome you. Please, come back whenever you want!

The eight of us stayed here for four days. The service we had was very good, the receptionist was really helpful in terms of giving information. The bed was very comfortable, the toilets were clean and it was a very comfortable stay. It is very nearby La Rambla which is the main street of Barcelona. However, the climb to the accommodation is 3 stairs up and unlocking the doors can be tricky.
