We stayed for 1 day post cruise. Didn't realize it was far from Placa Catalunya. Took their shuttle to the city center and rode the train back to the hotel (about 10 min. walk fr the train station). We also didn't know that we can't check in directly at the suites reception on weekends. We had to carry our bags to the Hesperia tower front desk to do it. Also, our booking said check in was at 12 noon, but when we got there no rooms were available until 3 PM. We liked the size of the suite and the fully equipped kitchen. The bathroom tiles (floor and walls) were all black, which was just too much for our taste. The shower drain didn't work well so standing in a pool of water on black tiles made our feet crawl! Couldn't wait to jump out of the shower and wash our feet somewhere....

The hotel location to the airport is excellent. The staffs are all very helpful and most of them speak English which was very useful. The hotel operates shuttle bus to the city center and also to the airport, but you need to plan ahead to know what time the bus departs to each of this locations.
Even though it is far from the city center, the train station is just about 5 mins walk away so it is very easy to get to town.
The breakfast is fabulous and the staff in the restaurant are all very helpful. The suites is a proper apartment for a family as the kitchen is fully equipped. I was surprised at how fully equipped the kitchenette was. It was easy preparing a proper meals for my kids because there is a mini shopping area round the corner from the hotel.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and come back again. It is very clean and the beds are comfortable. Getting around is very easy. Any one staying for more than one day should buy the metro train ticket in bulk as you can buy from 2 to 5 days worth of ticket at ones as this saves lots of money.

We chose this hotel because they were rated 5 stars and they also highly advertised their 5 star rating. Across the board I would give them a 3 at best and that is because I am being nice. Rooms were dirty, counters and table were not even wiped off. Paint and wallpaper peeling off wall. Hallways had no airconditioning. Hotel was in a poorer part of town, we saw physical fights, panhandlers, and generally we did not feel safe. We had luggage stolen from us while we were standing right next to it right in front of the hotel. Hotel told us the police would not do anything because there was no violence involved. When I checked in our luggage they left it sit up against the wall right next to the door. After 45 min. I expressed my concern and was told that they do not leave our luggage there and that the porter puts it away in the the back. It was never put away, I finally had to take it and babysit it myself. In every common area of the hotel the furniture was old, stained, and material ripped and/or heavily freyed. The overall feel of the hotel was unwelcoming. I was very embarrassed that I had booked this hotel for my wife and business partner and his wife. Anyone who would rate this hotel a 5 is delusional. Rating it a 3 is a Gift.

Hesperia Fira Suites was a surprise for us, we booked just a week before departure and we really dind't know how could be staying there. Fortunately was a beutifull place!. The flat was really nice, design furnishing, all comforts included. Peacefull place to stay, a bit far from city center, infact you may need a car or a taxi but it's quite closest to the metro station. The position of Hesperia (quite near the motorway) is good also if you want to spend a day in the beaches near Barcelona, like Sitges. In this way you can mix your cultural holiday with some sun hours in a nice place!

The hotel is a very big complex for conferences etc, but the suites are located in a separate building beside. We were a little surprised and tentative but it was good. There is no staffed reception desk but you need your pass to get into the building. We had a view from the back which was a pond area, very pretty. The suite included a living room, kitchette, separate bedroom and bathroom. Safe was included in the room at no charge. Place was clean, and spacious, and very well priced. Metro was about 200 yards from the hotel. Only glitch, and the reason I would not stay here again, is the location. Although the metro is fairly close, it is in the middle of a parking lot which is totally deserted when you arrive after dark. It is also the last metro stop so the train can be deserted as well. The hotel is 16 stops from Las Ramblas on the L1 metro. We were targeted by a group of four young adult pickpockets, on our way home. One male verbally kept saying things in Spanish to me (female), while other male watched for security, while a female blocked the view from other passengers, and the second female was setting her hands in my husbands pockets. Very unsettling, and then to go completely to the end of the line, and into a deserted parking lot was not comfortable at all. Great spot other than that.

The suite was very nice. A little kitchen was included, however not very useful if you are going to spend your days visiting Barcelona. You are connected to the city via the metro (subway) on the red line. The good thing is that it is the stop on the red line but still in zone 1. You can get a 10 trip pass that can be shared or other types depending on how long you'll stay. This way of travelling is very economical. The downside is that you can find it a bit far but, I thought the value outweighted this inconvenient. The metro stop is Hospitalet de Bellvitge.

To tell you the truth, eventhough it's a bit far from downtown Barcelona, I found this hotel to be just what anyone needs there. I had been to barcelona before and the hotels downtown where sometimes a bit noisy for my taste.

Since the Hesperia has free shuttles to/from the airport and to downtown, it's not difficult to get to the main attractions. Just try to be at the hotel entrance 10 minutes before the hour so you can be sure you're going to find a spot in the shuttle (specially if traveling with more than one couple). Breakfast... SUPER! Wow, one of the best I've found worldwide, no kidding. The rooms, at the suites, are very spacious and having a small studio concept is very convinient. Fully equipped kitchen, two flat screen TV sets, a small living room and a big bathroom, made our 5-day stay a "would go back" experience.

I highly recommend this place!!!
