Residencia Erasmus Gracia
Reviewed 26 April 2012

This hotel is in a quiet area, which can be good in a noisy city, and is close to bus and Metro links to the city. Rooms are clean but basic, with very hard beds that prevented comfortable sleep. We arrived for a 2 night stay, pre-booked for a double room. Due to overbooking we were asked to go to a four bed room for the first night and then move for the second. We fared better than the couple who arrived at the same time who had to go to a different hotel! Despite being assured that we could change rooms early in the morning we had to hang around for an hour on the second day while the room was being prepared. Breakfast was awful - undrinkable coffee, stale bread and hardly any choice. We won't be returning to this hotel.

Room Tip: Go for a room at the back of the hotel as the road in front of it can be a bit noisy

This property is as good as a good 3 stars. With an unbeatable price in barcelona. It is clean and quiet. No frills, but had everything that we needed. Well, everything except a double room, we had a twin room, but we putted the beds together . We asked for a quiet room, and they gave us room 112, that was indeed quiet. In the reception you can get touristic information. You also have a communitarian fridge and microwave in one living room in the ground floor, that we didn´t use, but looked very nice. The hotel is very near the subway, 3m walking from lesseps station. It is not in the citie center, but in 3 or 4 metro stops you are in some of the main attractions of barcelona, like the sagrada familia; las ramblas;and some of the houses made by gaudi like "Mila House" and "Casa Batlo". To visit "Park Guell" you don´t need to go on the subway, it is 15 minutes walking, The hotel is on Gracia, a place were the locals hang out, namely in carrer de verdi and other plaza, but you can get more detailed information in the reception. You are also very near one of the first houses design by gaudi, "Casa Vicents". That said, the locations is very nice!
If you are not looking for luxury, We highly recommend it!

Room Tip: The room 112 is quiet, i don´t know if this one is the best, but is a nice twin room.

First when we came there the receptionist showed us on a map were we were and were the nearest metro was and other things that we wanted to know. That was really great! The rest of the days we didn't ask about anything, thats why I don't have any more to say about the service in the frontdisk. Every day they cleaned the room, very nice, and new towels if we wanted to. The first day we ate breakfast at the hotel, quite boring and a very disturbing environment in the breakfastroom, very loud. Rest of the days we bought our own food and storage it in the refrigerator in the "dayroom". We did eat the food on our own BIG terass. That was really nice! We did also like the place were the hotel was placed, i Gracia. Very quiet, nice, safe and quite near to everything. We did like to take a walk down to the city, because it was very nice weather. Sometimes we took the taxi home, not expensive at all. The thing that we liked the least is the beds, it was really not comfortable. Otherwise we should of couse come back to this hotell and recommend it to our friends!

We’re just back from Barcelona where we stayed at Residencia Erasmus and found it a pretty good choice. My method for choosing the accommodation was simply that we wanted the cheapest available possibility with private bathroom – and concerning the positive reviews this seemed to be the best deal at the time of my booking. And now I can also recommend this place to anyone: we were completely satisfied.

The building is situated very close to a metro station (Lesseps – it’s about a 5-min walk). There are supermarkets (Spar, Dia%) and little, local restaurants, cafés etc. nearby.

Our room was clean and spacious with one double bed (actually two bed next to each other), a writing table, two chairs, a big wardrobe (without doors though), TV and a well-working wifi connection. The normal size bathroom was also comfortable. Towels and complimentary shower gel, soap and shampoo were provided. The room was cleaned on a daily basis. We could sleep well, and didn’t experience any noise in any of the 6 nights we spent there.

The only disadvantage might have been that our window offered a view to a small inner court, that’s why too much light didn’t come into the room, but this wasn’t a real problem for us because we spent the daily hours in the city.

The staff was always very nice and helpful. On our first day we arrived earlier, than the official check-in time, but they just prepared our room quickly.

Buffet breakfast was available. We booked the room without breakfast but still ate there in one of the mornings. The choice was tea, coffee, milk, toast, butter, ham, cheese, marmalade, croissant, yoghurt and some fruits and cereals. When we checked out, our invoice didn’t contain any extra fee for the breakfast. We asked the recepcionist about it, but he just answered that everything was correct, so I wonder if the breakfast was included in the price or it was just a mistake (?).

We recommend this place to everyone who is looking for a reasonably priced, conveniently located, clean and comfortable accommodation in Barcelona.
