“Very quiet, good for short stays”
Reviewed 11 March 2017 for a stay in February 2017

My wife and I arrived on February 22 2017 and left on March 8. We are both retired, and on holiday after a day out we invariably cook for ourselves and then amuse ourselves by playing cards or reading. A good night's sleep is a big priority, so that we have the energy to get moving the next day.
This apartment satisfied some of these requirements, but not others. It is on the ground floor of an old 5-storey building and the location is good. Sant Antoni metro station is about 5 minutes walk, and the Barcelona metro can get you around very quickly. The 10-journies ticket is a very cheap way to travel round the city, and you can swap from metro to bus on the same journey. Next door to the metro is the excellent Sant Antoni market - fresh vegetables and salad, masses of meat and fish, deli stuff - and we did most of our shopping there. A supermarket is across the road, with small shops and bakeries up and down the
street. The area bustles with activity. We watched a carnival procession literally drumming its way through the neighbourhood - great stuff;
We were met by a friend of Susana's who gave us a very brief introduction. Later on we failed to get the TV to work, and realised we needed the instructions. There was no manual available which contained all this information, along with recommended restaurants etc. This would have helped to get us going.
The apartment has low ceilings and is quite dark. It receives almost all of its natural light through the glass doors at the back, which open onto a small courtyard. At the end of the courtyard is a high wall, which restricts the sunlight from entering the outside space. We had hoped that we'd be able to sit outside for breakfast, but in March the sun only penetrates the area when it is at its height, around midday. This is not an apartment which is flooded with sunlight, and we had to switch the lights on most of the time. It does have a secluded, cosy feel, and it has been deliberately lit to provide atmospheric lighting in the evenings. We found that this was not bright enough to read whilst sitting on the very comfortable sofa or in the bedroom. A couple of good reading lamps would solve this problem and would give visitors an option as to the level of light they prefer.
The kitchen needed the lights on all the time, but it provided all the equipment needed to feed yourselves. Some of the crockery and cutlery was worn and there was only one coffee mug and one wine glass. The bathroom had an excellent shower with a good, hot jet. It ran off the bath taps, but the bath could not be used because there was no plug. The plug in the basin was broken. These may seem like trivial points, but when you are there for two weeks you may like a bath, and I can't see why you should have to spend some of your holiday time trailing round the shops looking for plugs or light bulbs. In the last two years we have stayed in Malaga, Seville, Granada, Cordoba and Lisbon, and Barcelona is the most expensive. Against that background, the small things all need to work. .
The outstanding feature of the apartment was the quiet. Susana quite rightly calls it "tranquilo" and we slept like logs every night. If you therefore don't intend to cook for yourselves or stay in in the evenings then this apartment may well suit you.

“Great apartment, well located.”
Reviewed 7 November 2016 for a stay in October 2016

An extremely comfortable apartment, that served us well during our short stay in Barcelona. While it is quite spacious it has a cozy, homely feel about it. Nicely decorated and well equipped (although I couldn't find an iron and ironing board which can be handy when you're living out of a suitcase!), with some interesting artworks around the place. The terrace is a lovely bonus and a very pleasant environment to eat breakfast or have a glass of wine before dinner. Suzanna was there to greet us on arrival and was happy to chat about our plans and offer us her advice. The apartment is very well located, close to the main centre, Las Ramblas, etc and within easy walking distance of metro stations and the airport bus stop. There are some nice restaurants and bars in the immediate vacinity. We ate at two tapas restaurants, Petite Ballet and Senorito, which were both very good. The only downside with our stay in Barcelona was that it was way too short, but we will return and would happily stay here again.

“beautiful, well-equipped apartment”
Reviewed 19 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

The apartment has everything you need for your vacation. It has a warm feeling, is very quiet and has a very nice private terrace. The owner is very interested in one's well-being. The neighborhood has many new creative restaurants. The center of Barcelona is in walking distance. It was perfect for us.

“Delightful restful haven in busy city”

Just the place to stay to enjoy the excitement of Barcelona! From the moment we stepped into the apartment we relaxed and were introduced to the tranquility promised when we booked. Everything we needed inside and outside on the terrace. Well placed in the city for walking to La Rambla, Raval and the funicular to go to Montjuic; the port and local beach only a sightseeing walk away!
We had a marvellous holiday and this apartment played a big part in giving us somewhere peaceful to relax after enjoying the sights and sounds of this busy city!
Highly recommended!
