Front desk and housekeeping staff extremely friendly and helpful. Anything we asked for was provided with a smile.
Rooms are not very soundproof, toilets flushing and showers running heard from rooms next door. We had 2 nights of very much disturbed sleep due to inconsiderate other guests (Spanish Pilgrims) banging doors and speaking at the top of their voices after midnight and in the early hours of the morning, which is no fault of the establishment but night shift personnel could have attended to this disturbance.

Room Tip: Higher up floors away from the street

It was really a surprise, as we did not expect so much for this price in Santiago in August. The Staff is kind, smiley, friendly and helpful. The room for the three of us was very clean, furnished with taste and with lovely small details we appreciated very much.
The hotel is easy to reach from the airport. Get on the airport bus and get off at Praza de Galicia: the Fornos is no more than 30 m from the stop (it might be a bit difficult to spot, as the entrance is by a clothes shop, but we arrived at night and saw the light sign..). The Cathedral must be no more than 500 m away. The ideal place for breakfast is the cafè Derby nearby.

Room Tip: If possible, ask for a room not facing the square: it can get noisy in the early morning

I stayed at the double bed single room for 2 nights in early May 2016. I did last minute booking on this hotel and happened to get a very good value for this room.

The hotel is located between the train station and the cathedral. The walk from train station is slightly steep but manageable. Its about 500M or 10-15 min walk along a main road.

The room is super clean and considered spacious for a single room. The reception is on second floor and my room is on third floor. There is a elevator in the building. Though there was little English spoken, I managed to get all necessary without difficulties. There is a supermarket nearby but it is closed on Sunday. There are a couple of café for breakfast and drinks.

I wish I could stay for another night.

I stayed here for 3 nights after doing el Camino (the Way of St James). It is located right at Plaza de Galicia where the buses depart to the airport (€3 in 2016) and really close to the old town. The room I had was very clean & comfortable with private bathroom including shower over bath. Absolutely no problem to leave luggage at reception before or after checking out & all the staff I came in contact with were very friendly & helpful. I'd stay here again & I'd definitely recommend it.

I have just returned from walking the Camino and looked for an inexpensive lodging convient for transportation to the airport. Residencia Fornos is the place. Centrally located in Plaza de Galicia 10 minute walk from the cathedral abouth the same from the market and the Abastos Resturant. Plaz de Galizia ia a busy noisy place cars, buses, drunks at all houra but I never heard a sound. The Residencial is run by two women who keep it spotlessly clean and are very friendly and welcoming. No English but with a bit of good will they can help you with anything. Rooms are small, en suite and cheap! I enjoyed a wonderful three nights there and can highly recommend staying here.
