“Clean and Comfortable in downtown Madrid”
Reviewed 22 May 2012

I stayed here for 4 days in January 2012. Great location for visiting Madrid. The hotel is spotless. Wifi worked well. For my first couple of nights I had the single room without a toilet/shower. This was no problem at all. The shared bathroom facilities were always clean, and because there are only a few rooms (and most have en suite bathrooms) I never had to wait for to use the bathroom. For my last nights at the Hospedaje I stayed in an en suite double room. Again, the room was spotless.
For the price, I don't think you can do better in downtown Madrid. Highly recommended.

My wife and I both agree that Hospedaje Romero is a fantastic hostel located on Gran Via in Madrid. It is central and easy to walk or use public transport to get to all the good sites, restaurants, shops and theatres. It is located on Gran Via which is a street that is buzzing and has lots going on.

Char and Raul are the greatest hosts we had in our entire trip around Spain and made us feel very welcomed. Char does not speak English but this is not a problem as you are able communicate with her and somehow you understand. Raul her son is extremely friendly and helpful and we had many good chats about Real Madrid and football in Spain. Everyday they made sure we were enjoying our stay and gave us plenty of tips with regards to restaurants and things to do in Madrid.

The rooms excellent and are cleaned everyday, you are given fresh towels on a daily basis. The rooms are very pleasant and warm, and although Gran Via is the main road in Madrid and constantly is busy with traffic, we could not here the traffic or any street noise from our room. A big plus is that you can use the WIFI from your room and there is communal computer that you can use. The private bathrooms aren't large, but it is nice to have you own ablution facilities and they had everything we needed and were also cleaned daily.

We found an excellent breakfast deal across the road from the hostel where you can pay €1.80 for a slice of toast with a topping and either a cup of tea or coffee, which was great and very affordable. There are plenty of other food options in close proximity to Hospedaje Romero and you'll have a harder time deciding where to go as opposed to trying to find a suitable place to eat.

I highly recommend this hostel and will definitely stay here again when I come to Madrid next to watch my next Real Madrid match live.

All been said already - it is what it says it is. Sure it could do with a makeover to bring it up to date a bit but its clean and tidy, the shower works well and the owners are outstanding!!! Would go back in a heartbeat :)

I booked last minute but I had no problem. The deal was very correct, english spoken. The situation is perfect for visiting the city center, very accessible public transport. The rooms are very clean and the overall stay was very enjoyable. I recommend it!

The hospedaje Romero has an easy access from the airport by metro (about 40 min.). The biggist advantage is the position in the middle of town. Nearly everything is in walking distance. Good food is also nearby. For a cheap eat "Cerveceria 100 montaditos" lies 100m. opposite the hospedaja (to the right). Romero has very clean rooms. The walls are thin, so you can hear your neighbours. If you are the two of you take a double room and not a couple room. The couple room beds are small.

Room Tip: Take a double room and not a couple room. The couple room beds are small.

Very nice place run by very nice people.
Essential, but perfectly clean and cheap.
It is in a perfect position to visit Madrid, and it is very well served by metro (suggested) and taxi (available day and night all along the Gran Via).

It's a little noisy (thin walls permit sound to travel from one room to the other), but in the end this has not been a problem.

100% suggested.
