“Nice Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 May 2012

This was a well located hotel. It was clean and comfortable. Bus to center was right outside and the metro was a few blocks away. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay. The only negative was you had to pay to use the safe deposit box in the room. Also, wifi was extra but that was not a big deal for us.

I spent four days in this hotel. Service was great, always helpful.
Room was clean and comfortable. Location: close to Atocha train station, metro, museums. Good value for money.

I spent four days in "Agumar" and both I and my friend were quite content with the quality of the room, the food and the service. It was clean and comfortable, the beds were soft and welcoming after a day's walking and in the morning a rich and tasty breakfast gave us all the energy to explore Madrid and Toledo ( which is less than an hour away if you stay in this hotel ). Pros: nice area, close to a metro station and the railway station, good standard of service and qualified personnel. We did not find any significant shortcomings and this is quite a compliment for the staff because we are professional travellers - stewardesses.

We stayed 4 days at the end of April 2012 in two standard rooms, my wife and I in one and son and wife in the other. The most impressive point was the beds. For European hotel beds, they were very comfortable. My son had a double bed ordered that was almost the size of an American king size, quite a surprise. I have noted a number of other comments about the hotel food. As in many hotels, the food isn't usually the best. Madrid has many fine restaurants. Do a bit of research on Trip Advisor and find something great. Cabs are plentiful and relatively inexpensive and can get you to a restaurant of your choice quickly. It is worth the experience.

Room Tip: This hotel is on a busy street and is accordingly subject to street noise. Ask for a room on a highe...

I stayed here on business this week. There are pros and cons about this place. The cons are, in no particular order - its dated especially the lobby area. I had a meal in the coffee shop and it was ridiculously small. Pork steak was four mouthfuls of sliced pork and eight chips. yes - 8. I counted them, for 13 euro. The lifts take forever, the walls are paper thin and you can hear any corridor conversation, and the beds slide away from the wall when you even touch them!
The pros however are these; Its reasonably priced, a short walk to Atocha station and Metro system, the breakfast is fine, and the staff are friendly. the wifi is very fast and cheap at €6 per day. The rooms themselves are fine also, and not as dated as the rest of the hotel. I would recommend for a couple of days in Madrid, but lay off the Solomillo Iberico (pork steak) unless you are feeding a three year old.
