Good location, but the room is pretty basic for a four stars hotel and the bathroom could be improved. The buffet breakfast is very good, with a good choice of fruits, salads, eggs, pastries etc and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

I stayed here for five nights. The staff was very friendly and helpful. However, the rooms were very dated and need a total renovation. Carpet was old and dingy, paint was chipped, only one lightbulb of the three worked on the ceiling light fixture. It is rated at 4 stars, but should be downgraded a star or two even for Europe

I stayed here for one night - a Monday.

I arrived at T1 at Barajas airport in Madrid and caught the metro to Chamartin railway station. There is a quick direct link from T4. However from T1 and T2 at the airport it means either going to Terminal 4 for the train or catching three metro trains (of which I did the latter).

I found the signposting at Chamartin railway station a little "lacking" and it was only through the copious use of Google maps and street view beforehand that I knew where to find the hotel.

The lobby and reception area in the Weare Chamartin is huge. Reception was quiet and I was quickly checked in by a receptionist who spoke English - although she was a little dour.

My room, on the 7th floor was right next to the elevators. I was not disturbed by this. The room was modern and clean - but a little dull ( as another review pointed out).

There's a safe in the room and a minibar. The ensuite shower room contained various complimentary items such as shoeshine, toothbrush, make up buds etc.

However, the worst thing was the bed. Very, very hard. Uncomfortable. A thin long pillow that ran the width if the bed (2 people would share the same pillow). I doubled it over and it was still thin and hard. Had it not have been for the bed I would have given the hotel a 4* rather than a 3*

Breakfast is served from 7am to 10am. There's the usual cheese, ham, yoghurts, pastries and bread plus a "hot" selection. I've put the word hot in inverted commas as it was probably hot when it was put out but, from what I could tell, it wasn't kept under a hot light or on a hot plate. By 07:10 thus "hot" selection was tepid.
The scrambled egg was incredibly greasy.

The hotel is great for Chamartin railway station but a little distant from the main tourist sights of Madrid. A metro line will take you direct from Chamartin to somewhere like Gran Via. There's a dozen stops and takes about 20 minutes.

the best thing about this hotel (it is the old Husa Chamartín) is its closeness to the train station. The problem is also the station. It is hard to get out of this hotel to have a decent dinner. You either eat in the hotel or in the station (where there is only low cost options and in the evening they close at about 10 pm).

The room I had was nice, recently renovated. My main criticism to it is the light. It was very dark, which made it even hard to pack not forgetting something. I could barely see. I had to leave the room towards 7.30 in the morning, and there was no natural light.

Booked this hotel as it was 4 star but were little disapointed, as it is quite worn. The is rather niosy as well and the breakfast buffet very busy, so not the same charme as many other hotels in madrid. The hotel is close to the train station but the area little boring.
