We recently spent three nights in this stylish hotel at the suggestion of a travel agent. It seemed to draw a stream of hip, well-dressed people and was decorated beautifully, assuming you like contemporary cool. We were fortunate to have a large, airy room with a wonderful view of the city. The toiletries were a high quality brand, the beds were comfortable and the tea and coffee provided were better than typical. The hotel even offered a pillow menu. We really only used the hotel for sleeping and resting, so can't offer any insight into the lobby bar, restaurant, gym or other amenities, but for our needs it was ideal. The staff were exceptionally helpful with directions as well as suggestions; one of them recommended a restaurant that was so good we went back a second time. The neighborhood was nice and the proximity to Plaza Espana, the Royal Palace, Debod Park and other popular attractions made it an ideal location.

We stayed here for three nights and could not be happier. The hotel is beautiful with nice clean rooms. But what makes this hotel exceptional is amazing staff and location. I would like to say special thanks to Bianca Iglesias, who went above and beyond to help us answer any questions or address any concerns we had. This makes a big difference for me personally when I review the hotel. Also special thanks to the bellmen, who always were very helpful with getting us a taxi. The hotel is located right next to Ventura Rodriguez metro station, near many great local bars and restaurants, and near major tourist attractions. There are very nice toiletries provided. Pool is still under construction. Breakfast buffet is great, lots of options for everyone.

So, this should be one of the coolest hotels in Madrid and the reception certainly makes you feel that this is going to be a great experience...

But it’s not!

So, I was staying - as per most of my trips with work - the price of this hotel was extortionate, but that aside, it was disappointing for the money.

First off, the room, this was nice and airy, I had a good room at the top of the building with a window that opened - a rarity in hotels nowadays! The bed was comfortable, but no mattress topper and so was fairly hard.

The bathroom was definitely very good and had some amazing toiletries, from ritual!!

Now on to the not so good.

Staff were hassled and too busy when I arrived. When you get to a 5 star hotel it’s good to be made that you feel you are the most important person at that time. Although the receptionist was learning and that’s fine, her colleague took over my ‘welcome in’ process and then promptly tried to check 5 other people that had arrived after me. Hmmm - not great!

I eventually got checked in and things were ok.

The gym - this is a joke. 3 pieces of equipment, all the instructions in Spanish and no fan for when things get steamy!!! No running machine either.

The hotel is in a lovely district of Madrid, but if I had paid the sort of money for my stay, I would have been very upset. Melia hotels on the whole are fabulous, I would recommend everyone I have stayed in, but not this one. Try the Westin up the road!!

Loved our time at Melia hotel. My grandson and I stayed here while attending a Real Madrid soccer game. The only complaint we had is the location. Had to take taxis to get to any of the points of interest. Couldn't find any fun little cafes within short walking distance.

Room Tip: Toom was excellent.

In reference to the location review, it is true that the hotel is not very close to Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, but it is near to downtown, few minutes walking to Plaza España, Gran Vía, Palacio Real, Catedral de la Almudena and the comercial area.

The hotel and staff overall very friendly and helpful . Room is clean and practical. Approx ten minute walk to Gran Via for decent restaurants. The room service was expensive cold and not much of it so quite disappointed.
