From the moment we arrived all the staff were very friendly, helpful and courteous throughout our stay. The service improves which is a lot to say. We paid extra for breakfast but it was worth it. Everything about this hotel is first class. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be treated wonderfully and in great surroundings in a terrific neighborhood.

Thyere was a fairly long delay when we arrived to checked in at reception (due to other guests mislaying their passports) but there were apologies from the staff and we were soon taken up to the red level floor and into our superb room. It had the wow factor and a great view of the city. The breakfast every morning was very good and the concierge was only too delighted to recommend sights for us to visit. If you pay extra for the red level service you have free use of the bar from 11am until 11pm where you will find all sorts of snacks, canapes and unlimited supply of Moet and Chandon! The hotel is certainly in a busy area of Madrid. There are 3 and 4 lane roads everywhere and the traffic is constant both day and night but you don't have to walk far before you can get away from the noise in one of the many parks nearby. I have to say also that the windows in the room were so good we couldn't actually hear any traffic noise at all. A few streets behind the hotel are some elegant old fashioned shops and some designer names - a pleasant are to walk in the evening. An excellent 5 star hotel and highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view across the city or you may be looking onto other buildings. Also it is wo...

A great hotel in the perfect spot of Madrid with an excellent staff willing to help and direct tourists all day long. The red carpet service located on the 6th and 7th floor is the best choice. Here are located the best rooms in the hotel. The Staff is very friendly, excellent food and very convenient for business or pleasure. This is a 5 stars hotel without a doubt. I hope I can come back soon.

Room Tip: Make sure to pick the red carpet service. Rooms located in the six and seven floor are the best and...

I have been going to the Fenix for the last 12 years almost every year.
I didn't go last year. I found it better, much better.
The service improves which is a lot to say. How do you improve something that was almost perfect? With attention to the minimum details.
The bar has been remodeled. Many people say is the best bar in Madrid.
The rest remain in the same place looking to satisfy its cadre of loyal customers.

My wife and I, along with another couple stayed at the Gran Melia Fenix for 5 nights at the end of August 2011 to celebrate my birthday. From the moment we arrived all the staff were very friendly, helpful and courteous throughout our stay. We stayed in the Grand premium with whirlpool rooms on the red level and were very pleased with them. When we had originally booked the rooms , our information said that the red level bar was open from 5pm, but after arriving we were informed that this had been extended from 1pm, which we thought offered exceptional value for money.
The hotel itself is a classy hotel with some lovely rooms, such as where breakfast is served. The food was excellent, an all in all we wouldn't hesitate to return.

Thank you to all the management for all the extra little touches that help make our stay a special one :) A special thanks to Jaime Santiago for arranging our stay & upgrades with superb efficiency.

Except for the room being small, this true five star hotel is in a wonderful position. The smartest area . Quiet street, walk to the best shops, restaurants and the terrific food market 100 meters up the road.
Very efficient and helpful staff and a great big bar with interesting drinks and an outside area.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, choose a bigger room

Room Tip: My tip is just go there. A bit expensive but worth it.
