We stayed near to Gran Via and walked along it every day. It is the busiest place you can imagine which is made busier by the road and building works going on there.
Numerous shops and restaurants set in beautiful buildings.
Nice atmosphere.
Lots of beggars and homeless, but the streets were clean and we never felt intimidated or unsafe.

Shops to suit every taste and every budget. Several theatres. Crowded, of course, but not to be missed when visiting Madrid. However, wear comfortable shoes, lots of walking, and be especially vigilant with personal belongings.

my friend and I walked up this street several times during our recent stay. If shopping is your thing, then this area will suit you well. Nice shops, and cafes to visit, and many interesting streets leading off it.

This street is a dream for shoppers where they could find large branded shops all over. The architecture of the street is well maintained and symbolises the Spanish way.
