Hotel smells awfull, beds are very hard, room looks old and very poor maintenance...
We left after five minutes and looked for another hotel.

We have just come back from a 4 night stay in this hotel. I was a little worried , as I had read various bad reviews...

We had a fantastic time. We were greeted by friendly staff and allowed into our room early.

The room was lovely, great bathroom and decor.

Breakfast was good too, lots of choice. Madrid is an amazing city and if we ever return we will be sure to stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor (level 6) are slightly smaller

The location was good, in the middle of everything. However, there was a strange smell in the lobby and the stairs, there was lots of mold in our room and quite some annoying bugs. Service was variable. We will chose another hotel next time we're in Madrid.

We stayed at the Petit Palace last year and liked the location which is just off the Puerto del Sol. We thought we would try it again this year, which was a bit of a mistake really. The staff are great at the hotel and very helpful, unfortunately it ends there. Our room last year was dark with not much natural light. This year was pitch black. The gloomy "hi tech" decor doesn't help and its starting to look decidedly tatty. The bathroom was falling to pieces a loose, leaking tap, grubby edges to the surfaces and a "power shower" that was decidely limp.
The worst part was that the room and the corridor outside had a distinct smell of drains, the only way of clearing the smell was to have the window open. As this overlooked a large extraction vent it was a choice of one smell or the other.
For anyone thinking of staying here, avoid room 103!
The breakfast buffet was ok and as mentioned the staff are very helpful, but I think next time we will try another place.

Location is excellent, about 2 mins walk to Sol metro. Small rooms but that's to be expected in this location. First room they gave me smelt of sewage, which was something of a disappointment (rm 103), but they changed it without fuss and the second one was fine. Airconditioning wasn't working - when I asked they said it was turned off. OK, Madrid in November isn't the same as Madrid in July, but it's still nice to be able to cool the room down if you want to. What was working was the heating, which pumped out hot air all night and made the room almost impossible to sleep in. In the end I switched it off and opened a window, which worked but wasn't ideal especially as there was some sort of walkway directly outside. No laptops in the rooms, which after staying in a couple of other Petit Palaces was a bit of a letdown. Breakfast was excellent. Overall nothing really wrong with this place, but the Petit Palace Mayor is way better in my opinion.

Great location- we could walk to plaza meyor and puerta de sol as well as the prado and other museums. We thought the room was very small and cramped and bathroom oversized for the size of the room. Loved the balcony and view onto the street. Great to have refreshments when you walked in and throughout the day. Very clean. Laptops were brilliant and the free wifi useful. Most of all, we found the helpful little guy at reception (after 3pm) amazing. He printed off our boarding passes and gave us loads of information about attractions and restaurants. Overall an excellent stay!

Room Tip: Non-smoking floor at the front so you get a balcony
