“3 star hotel- 4 star standard!”
Reviewed 1 April 2012

Had 5 nights in the Venus Hotel 26th March, returning to the U.K on 31st March. Chose this hotel after reading good reviews, and researching its location.
This is our 6th time in Benidorm- normally booking nothing less than 4 star- this occasion thought we would gamble and book 3 star. The gamble payed off well and truly. Its not a high rise hotel-9 floors, this suited my other half as he is abit phobic when it comes to heights. We were allocated 2nd floor overlooking the pool. ideal with a nice sized balcony. Also meant that we could use the stairs instead of the very adequate lift, inorder to make sure we got exercise after/before our meals.
The hotel is spotless, lots of mirrored pillers, so clean and fresh and bright. Staff and customers alike all friendly.
Meals
in the restaurant faultless-(breakfast and evening meal) lots of choice- nobody need go hungry. Wine with the meal was served by a very pleasant somelier, and the price was very reasonable too, prices started at 7 euros and the dearest bottle was only around 17 euros.
Our room was as good as any 4 star hotel- and better! How nice to have many English channels on the wide screen TV, fridge, plenty of hangers in the wardrobe, power point next to the big mirror- which is alot of cases in hotels is situated on a wall nowhere near a mirror. Bathroom was nice and compact, clean white soft towels, hot and cold running water.Sachets of shampoo's , soaps, shower gels.
Evening entertainment was nice and varied. Quiz night, Bingo, singers, duos. Great!
Drinks were excellent value for money, and once we had eaten our evening meal we were happy to go the the bar and watch the entertainment and enjoy a few drinks, there was no need for us to leave the hotel. Great service by the waiters too, they work very hard and so pleasant with it.
Only downside of this hotel was the hard bed and the fact that heavy blankets are still used- which is a little bit dated in these days of duvets. Not too keen on the long pillow either, single pillows would have been better.
On saying this, the bedding was clean and fresh.
I will certainly recommend this hotel to whoever is coming to Benidorm, be it fam, friends or whoever reads this review. And i for one will certainly be booking the Venus again in the future.

Room Tip: ours was 2004-great..overlooking he pool-2nd floor, near the lift.

We stayed at the Venus in March 2011 due the great location for night life and a very enjoyable stay, we booked again for March 2012. There were 12 of us in total with ages varying from 42 through to 66, we would definitely stay again. The rooms have been refurbished since our last visit and were wonderful. The shower and toilet were fantastic (wish we had such a powerful shower at home). Food was good although it was low season there was plenty of choice, but you are best getting down early as they do clear the food away very quickly.

2 for 1 on drinks although I do think they were a little smaller than normal, but a very good offer.

Weather was fantastic we have now been in March for 6 years, missing the odd year out occassionaly, but we have always had fabulous weather.

Would definitely recommend this hotel and will certainly be going back, very clean, friendly staff and great location if you want to be near the entertainment.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with pool view preferrably on the dining area side.

We have just returned last week from yet another stay at the Hotel Venus. We love staying here so much that we choose to be there three times a year and I can honestly say we have never been disappointed.
The entrance has been refurbished with a lovely canopy and the beautiful exotic garden has now been extended right round the other side of the hotel with a crazy paving type wall and shrubs and plants which complement the surroundings.
Another imppprovement is the big picture windows overlooking this new area where you can sit in comfort on lovely gold leather easy chairs and settees.
The Hotel reception is bright clean and airy and we were checked in rapidly by one of the friendly staff .
The bedroom which was in the Residecia building was very nice as we entered there was the most lovely clean smell you could tell it had been thoroughly cleaned and the bed linen and towels were spotless white. We had a flat screened television where you could watch british television and a little fridge.
Once again we found the restaurant to have continued with the high standard we have come to expect with a vast array of mouth watering food set out at every meal time
The pool area is very attractive with ample beds and a pool bar where you could sit under the shade. Idylic when the nice music is playing and you sit with a nice cold drink which incidentally were 2 for 1
The hotel is situated in a good place for all that Benidorm has to offer with the twice weekly market just over the road and a nice short stroll to the magnificent promenade. There are many good clubs and bars in the vicinity but after you have gone to bed you could never hear a thing as it is set just far enough away to avoid really late night revellers.
We noticed an improvement in the entertainment available in the hotel this time with a wide variety of differing acts some really good evenings in the Dracma some evenings it was difficult to find a seat
I would personally highly recommend the hotel The staff are wonderful and nothing was to much trouble everyone was so friendly the hotel spotless The food great I could go on and on. I am so looking forward to returning to our favourite place

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view

Stayed at this hotel by choice in December for our winter holiday having stayed there several times in the past. I'm sad to say that it's now a shadow of it's formed self. Whether this is because Thomson no longer use it (it's not all-inclusive) is unclear, but for part of the time there was only 40 or so people staying. Luckily there had been a Spanish fiesta the weekend before and it had been quite busy and Christmas was the weekend after we were due to leave and it was filling up by then. Although the rooms were clean and tidy, as was the reception area, that is about all that was good. The downstairs concert room was closed, there was no dancing and no bar open. The main bar area, although it had a two for one offer during our stay, was soulless. although there was music during the first few days (and football on the TVs), the cabarets were cancelled because there was only a few guests. The food was not a patch on previous years, being mostly Spanish at first, and lacking in choice (unless you like fish) for the rest of the time. Even the desserts, which were something to write home about, were dull and boring. I do hope things improve at the Venus.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool are quieter

Hoteles_Servigroup, Customer Service at Servigroup Venus, responded to this review, 14 March 2012
Dear Brenda997,

Thank you for your comment, of which we have taken note and we are sorry to hear you were disappointed with your stay.

The period in which you came to our hotel was low season, therefore, there was a less occupation. This affects in the quantity of food served in our buffet, but not the variety of food.
In Servigroup hotels, we understand that hotel food plays a very significant part in our guests´ holiday enjoyment, therefore time and effort has been spent by our Head Chef creating a varied menu plan.

Kind regards,
Customer Service.

Rooms - quite small but comfortable, got fridge, tv, small bathroom

Food - V.good, better than some 4* i have stayed in in Benidorm, good variety and staff were lovely.

Staff - Very helpful, especially Amanda (Customer Services), she showed me round the sister hotel the Pueblo and I have booked this directly with them. Amanda is a wealth of knowledge having lived in Benidorm for over 25 years and really couldn't do enough to help.

Overall - A very good standard 3* hotel which would happily recommend, it was spotless and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking the road get the sun in the morning if you like to use your terrace.
