Spent a week at this facility - 27 March - 03 April 2017.
The Terralta facility is clean and well maintained. I booked on a Half Board basis, breakfast and evening meal. There is a good selection of choice of food and plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables and salads so one can remain healthy. The selection caters for a British palate more than a Spanish one. However, this is not a Hotel – the Apartments are self-contained facilities with kitchens, living room, bedroom and bathroom – easily suitable for a family of 4 to accommodate on a self catering basis if necessary. There is an on-site shop where you can obtain food and household items – but be careful, most items were not priced up, and I got stung a few times. For example – I would never in a million years buy a Pot Noodle for £2 in England – yet that was what I was charged for as it was not price tagged. I would never have paid £2 for a bag of Maltesers either – but I got caught out there. Just saying.
There are a great deal of activities organised on site. It was great to participate in a French Bowls contest (and win!), there are a lot of pool tables and huge swimming pool with loungers for soaking up the sun. It was 25 degrees during my stay and the sun was hot.
Be sure to ask on arrival about activities both onsite and offsite – because no-one will tell you! The staff are more concerned about booking you in than divulging information about activities. Why am I saying this? I discovered on day 6 of my 7 Day stay that there were boat trips, extravaganza shows with meals and coach tours available that I would have participated in – had I known about them ahead of time. I didn’t realise there were boat trips to Isla de Benidorm (the little rock out in the sea visible from the beach) on a regular basis.
The beach (Playa de Poniente ) is 1Km away, but if you are walking, there are some steep-dipping roads to be aware of which can cause you strain on your knees and Achilles tendons, so be mindful of this. I walked to the beach daily to Playa de Poniente and on one occasion, to Playa de Levante. The beaches are clean, and I enjoyed walking along the stretches of beaches and walking in the sea. There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants to quench ones thirst along the way too. Being single, I visited purely for rest and relaxation.
Beware of racist security guards when leaving Alicante Airport. One man was incredibly aggressive and was hankering for a fight, but spotting his immaturity and vehement racist tendencies, I was able to diffuse the situation and walk away from the conflict he was looking for. So pig-ignorant were these people, they didn’t recognise a simple un-opened bar of soap in my wash-bag, and tried to make an issue of it. Incredibly pathetic! Evidently, I was the only person of colour he had seen that day that he was itching to put a bullet through for no reason.
All in all, I enjoyed my stay. The wall-to-wall sunshine was a tonic and very much appreciated.
