The location of this hotel is both a blessing (in the middle of Amalfi) and a curse (no parking, very noisy). It is a **** hotel, and rates are steep, around € 220 a night. Plus € 20 for (valet) parking.

The rooms are not very spacious, the bathroom are downright small: a bit weird to put in a jacuzzi that occupies 3/4 of the tiny bathroom. With no shower curtain, so a water ballet is ensured.

Beach is just steps away, but it is a 'dirty sand' beach, small and pretty crowded. The pier with ferries to Positano and Capri is just across the street too.

Breakfast is very basic, but on a nice terrace overlooking the sea. And disturbed by the noisy traffic (esp. motorbikes).

There is free WiFi in all rooms, but with the thick walls, connection is dodgy at best.

Hotel is beautiful, historic on the outside and inside!

Not all staff is comfortable speaking English.

The staff was wonderful and very helpful. The hotel was so close and in a great location. The only downside to the sea view is that it's also a street view at the main intersection in town. Lots of scooters. Ask for a room away from the street for a much better stay.

Room Tip: Skip the sea view since it's so noisy

Spent three nights here. Great location on the sea front, across from where the Sita buses stop. Our large room was at the front but was still quiet at night. Beds were a little on the hard side with the standard concrete Italian pillows. Decent, if a little limited, breakfast served on a balcony overlooking the ocean. We had a drink there one evening. It seemed to come a shock that anyone would come up there at night. The desk did tell us they were trying to develop it as a bar area but they didn't seem to be having much success. Generally service was very friendly. A good choice.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view - noise is not an issue.

This place has lots of character, and is situated right in the centre, fronting on to the harbour. Our room, which was very comfortable, overlooked the town square, while breakfast was served on a lovely terrace overlooking the Med. Good range of choices for (continenetal) breakfast too. Staff on reception very friendly

Located opposite the beach, both free and private beaches. Large, comfortable room overlooking the ocean. Breakfast was decent, free wifi (although there was a 10 minute timeout on each session). I really nice place to stay, and Amalfi, the town, was fantastic.

Our choice for this hotel in Amalfi proved to be the best thing we could have done...the location is flawless, you step out side you are across from the beach, steps from the very user freindly transporttion of SITA buses that take you all over the Amalfi coast very inexpensively, steps from cafes and shops and right next door to the famous and beautful San Andrea cathedral. The rooms are immaculate and the front desk staff was very accomodating and helpful in all areas of info and service.
The two minor negatives are the small shower stall and the limited breakfast. But the benefits of everything else outweighed those two issues.
It may at first appear that it would be a noisy location being right in the middle of all the action, but our room had an airtight window with a shudder that literally cut out the noise the second it was closed. We slept like babies.
If you are going to Amalfi, ths is the hotel to stay in...avoid the stairs and the long walks to the other hotels. This is a winner!

I recently visited Hotel Residence with a friend and thought it was a great find. It is right in the front of the town, across from the beaches, the bus stop and the ferry pier, and around the corner from the main street with all the shopping and the Duomo. The hotel is lovely inside - the main foyer on the first floor is full of art & antiques and just feels romantical and european. The rooms aren't all that big, but they are comfortable and very clean, with a balcony view of the beach area & the sea... so nice. Great vantage point to watch all the goings on in town.
Also, the service at the hotel is tops. The people are super friendly. One example is that we ended up going to the terrace of the dining room in the afternoon to sit outside and eat a panini - long after the breakfast stopped being served - and someone came out and asked if they could make us a coffee. So nice!
One tip - breakfast stops being served early... maybe 10am? We only caught it twice, because we slept too late, so beware.
Great hotel - highly recommend it.
