Holiday with Tui. to Sorrento. The Journey from Turin Airport was about an hour and a half, but with plenty of spectacular scenery on the way.(Sit on right side of the coach)..I have to admit the entrance lobby to the hotel was a little dissapointing with dated furniture and decor, but that we soon put behind us as we took the lift to the 5th floor reception. Its then that you realise why you booked this hotel. The views from the terrace are not just spectacular, they are mind blowing!!! You have the the Bay of Naples on your doorstep. We paid extra for a sea view with balcony but it was worth every penny,as we had the same views as the those from the terrace. There is a small swimming pool with PLENTY OF SUNBEDS.
The staff couldn’t be more helpful, especially Nino, the restaurant manager. He always greeted us and escorted us to our table, explained the ingredients on the menu of items we were unfamiliar with.He is guy who obviously loves his job and takes great care of his guests.
Our room 503 was excellent, with walk in power shower lots of shower gels and shampoos. The towels were changed daily, and one thing we really liked was that our room was made up every day whilst we were having breakfast.
The entertainment was very good, usually an organist or singer or both together, performing outside on the terrace.
The only downside to the position of the hotel is the climb back up from the town.It takes about 15/20 minutes along a main road with loads of traffic.Dont trust the zebra crossings as far as Italian drivers are concerned they are just “Paintings on the road” and they rarely stop.
There is so much to see in Sorrento,we took the ferry to Capri, but do your own thing,if you book it with Tui it will cost you around €170 return for 2 people, whereas booking your own ferry crossing will cost around €75 for 2 return.Even this is a bit steep for a crossing that takes only half an hour!!.We also went to Positano by local bus, which is very pretty and well worth a visit. We also booked a trip with Tui to the “Amalfi coast with lunch”This trip cost us just over €100 but well worth it.
There are lots and lots of restaurants and bars and shops in Sorrento, just a 15 minute walk down the hill. Also some very reasonably priced eateries down the narrow back streets.
nights, and can honestly say that this holiday will always be one we can look back on and say “that was one of the best”.

Room Tip: Any room on the 5th.floor with BALCONY AND SEA VIEW.

From the moment my wife and I checked in to the moment we checked out we were thoroughly looked after. We arrived a little late check in was swift and the hotel even had a meal waiting for us.We had an attic room with a beautiful view across the bay of Naples the room itself did not have a balcony but we knew about this prior to booking. That said it was perfectly adequate and was cleaned every day. The breakfast was what you expect typically continental for dinner the menu was changed every night and the food could not be faulted. A special thanks must go to Nino who ran the restaurant nothing was too much trouble for him and if there was anything you wanted to know he was always there to help you.The hotel is perfectly situated just a ten minute stroll down the hill into the town of Sorrento itself. The pool was on the roof with stunning views and on the whole quiet most of the time. We had a late check out and was able to use a courtesy room for a shower and freshen up etc which was ideal. All in all I would like to give a big thank you to all involved at the Minerva for making us so welcome.

First time to anywhere in Italy and have not been disappointed. As others have said the location is spot on and the views to die for, we had room 405 looking across the bay to mount Vesuvius. The room was a adequate size painted white with a large bed (2 pushed together) blue strip bedcover, a couple of chairs dresser, mirrored wardrobe and tv. Everywhere was nipping clean. the bathroom was fine with a shower that worked better than it looked like it would, towels were lovely and fluffy and ample toiletries left each day. These balcony's do not get the sun and these rooms (400 -406) are under the restaurant so some mornings a lot of chair scraping goes on above very early infact 6.30 one Sunday while breakfast is being set up....I notice most of the chairs in the restaurant have rubbers on each leg but some may be worn hence the scraping.

The dining room works like a well oiled machine with Nino in command he is a absolute star and has the patience of a saint. He explains dishes/menus over and over again every night, most of the staff were pleasant and Francesca is a very sweet and hard working young woman. The meals were very good and we were stuffed every night. If you have wine left over it will be kept for the next night or you can take it to your room or drink it in the bar..this was very handy. Breakfasts were fabulous with everything you could want and eggs/bacon cooked to order couldn't fault it. We ate on the huge balcony almost every time its just first come first served we were inside for dinner a couple of times as there had been a huge downpour. Drinks were not over priced 18 euro and up for a bottle of wine and 5 euro for a pint of beer. We paid our drinks/snacks bill the evening before we left.
The rooftop pool is lovely and we chatted to some lovely people and towels are free to borrow. Snacks here are made in the hotel kitchen below and brought up

The Tui rep Rachel was fabulous and everyone said the same she took us for a tour of the town the day after we arrived and we had tasters of limoncello, gelato and wine, she told us how to get down to Marina Grande and said not to go through the campsite as the owner is locking the gates at the bottom as he is fed up of everyone using this way ..

We were late back a couple of nights to find the doors locked but in the corner I spied a telephone and after saying who we were we were let in, perhaps we should have been informed about the phone but no matter.

Wish we were still there.

After a month of touring around Italy, we found the perfect place to unwind and soak up the beauty of Italy. A clean, colorful room with classic ceramic tiles and a balcony that overlooks Mount Vesuvius and the town. All amenities are included, plus a bottle of Asti Spumante awaited us, as my wife was celebrating her 60th. The staff is helpful and efficient. Enjoy!
