Recommended by friends who assured us that Sorrento and the Hotel Minerva would be a memorable place to visit, we weren't disappointed and will definitely return. We travelled with TUI (their website doesn't do the Hotel justice) Our room was amazing (501) with a large terrace, sunbeds and a stunning view of Vesuvius and the bay of Naples, there's even a view from the bath! All staff were pleasant but in particular the restaurant staff made every meal feel very special. Use of courtesy room on last day really useful. Recommend booking a room with a view/balcony and request a higher room for best views. The walk into town takes about 5 mins.

Room Tip: book room with view and balcony for best views

A corkscrew, wine glasses and an iron in the room would help. Also waited 5 minutes for a lift to go to dinner only to be told to go away as we were 3 minutes past the cut off time. Fantastic views, but it’s the little things that make a great hotel.

A very enjoyable stay at this beautiful hotel in a superb location with a stunning view of Mount Vesuvius and the bay of Naples. The accommodation is very well presented and maintained. Bedrooms are comfortable and very clean.
Staff are friendly, polite and helpful. The restaurant manager was the star of the show. Nothing was too much trouble. He went the extra mile to insure you understood the menu and it’s contents and how it was sourced and cooked. There was a good choice of meal and a varied selection for breakfast.

The roof top swimming pool andsnack bar were excellent.

The only criticsm was the noise from the outside traffic.

Room Tip: Higher floors subject to less traffic noise

Stayed here with my partner at the end of June. The location was just perfect for us. It is facing a busy main road and from the outside this hotel does not appear too attractive, but looks can be deceiving! You enter the hotel from the road and take the lift to the 5th floor, the views from the terrace and the dining terrace are sublime.
Also our room was excellent, I was at first a bit dubious about being in the annexe which is slightly detached from the hotel but I needn't have worried, there is traffic noise when the balcony window is open but the glazing is excellent and we heard no traffic noise at night.
I had uninterrupted views of Mt Vesuvius when lying in my bed!!........it really doesn't get much better than that.
Food and service were very good, Nino the restaurant manager could make beans on toast sound delightful! Joking apart the food was plentiful, varied and of an excellent standard with professional and pleasant waiting staff.
The bar manager Antonio was also very good and the younger barman whose name I did not catch was excellent.
The rooms were cleaned to a high standard daily and fresh towels were given to us every day.
The pool is small and the brochure photo a little misleading as it looks huge, clever photography! But the area was well maintained with plenty of loungers and a small bar area. We spent very little time on this roof top terrace as we were too busy enjoying the stunning surrounding area.
The walk down into town and back was no problem at all and it was only a gentle gradient, busy with traffic though and at times the traffic fumes were unpleasant, but a lot of central Sorrento is pedestrianised.
A lovely hotel and we had a lovely weeks stay.......thank you Minerva!

Holiday with Tui. to Sorrento. The Journey from Turin Airport was about an hour and a half, but with plenty of spectacular scenery on the way.(Sit on right side of the coach)..I have to admit the entrance lobby to the hotel was a little dissapointing with dated furniture and decor, but that we soon put behind us as we took the lift to the 5th floor reception. Its then that you realise why you booked this hotel. The views from the terrace are not just spectacular, they are mind blowing!!! You have the the Bay of Naples on your doorstep. We paid extra for a sea view with balcony but it was worth every penny,as we had the same views as the those from the terrace. There is a small swimming pool with PLENTY OF SUNBEDS.
The staff couldn’t be more helpful, especially Nino, the restaurant manager. He always greeted us and escorted us to our table, explained the ingredients on the menu of items we were unfamiliar with.He is guy who obviously loves his job and takes great care of his guests.
Our room 503 was excellent, with walk in power shower lots of shower gels and shampoos. The towels were changed daily, and one thing we really liked was that our room was made up every day whilst we were having breakfast.
The entertainment was very good, usually an organist or singer or both together, performing outside on the terrace.
The only downside to the position of the hotel is the climb back up from the town.It takes about 15/20 minutes along a main road with loads of traffic.Dont trust the zebra crossings as far as Italian drivers are concerned they are just “Paintings on the road” and they rarely stop.
There is so much to see in Sorrento,we took the ferry to Capri, but do your own thing,if you book it with Tui it will cost you around €170 return for 2 people, whereas booking your own ferry crossing will cost around €75 for 2 return.Even this is a bit steep for a crossing that takes only half an hour!!.We also went to Positano by local bus, which is very pretty and well worth a visit. We also booked a trip with Tui to the “Amalfi coast with lunch”This trip cost us just over €100 but well worth it.
There are lots and lots of restaurants and bars and shops in Sorrento, just a 15 minute walk down the hill. Also some very reasonably priced eateries down the narrow back streets.
nights, and can honestly say that this holiday will always be one we can look back on and say “that was one of the best”.

Room Tip: Any room on the 5th.floor with BALCONY AND SEA VIEW.
