Great hotel. Older, but still excellent. Spacious room. We were upgraded at no extra cost. The owner was very helpful and friendly. We met his wife and his dog and learned about his travels and family. I felt like we were family. The rooms were clean. Breakfast was free but not my type of breakfast, that being said I'm all about bacon and eggs, so Euro breakfasts are "ein" in my books. The tv had many English channels - sweet. THE VIEW WAS KILLER!!!!! SO PRETTY! I felt safe there, if that factors in for anyone (it usually does with my mother, so this is an important point in my books).
The negative: We booked a day trip through the hotel. Not what we'd expected and the company they chose was pricey for much less "stuff" then other day trips we'd done during our Euro vacation.

Overall: EXCELLENT hotel. Just plan your trips on your own.

Tip: Go to Capri for a day. Stunning.

Room Tip: We got an upgrade to a "front" room. The front has STUNNING views. They are really nice, so if a room is available, they will upgrade you when you arrive. As for pets -- probably allowed since his dog was there...

Having read much about Naples edgy reputation I was concerned about visiting the city. I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. Like most cities there are good and bad areas but the Hotel Miramare is located in a very nice area long the sea front. It is an old style hotel with real character and lots of comfort. Our room on the corner had large French windows on two sides. The room was very blue which matched the sea and the sky. The bed had many pillows, a great treat, as many Italian hotels seem to have only one hard pillow per person. And the sheets were real linen. Breakfast was served on the hotel roof terrace overlooking the harbor and volcano. The pastries and coffee were excellent. For dinner we found many good restaurants along the sea front and recommend Gusto and Gusto where we chose our own fish. Altogether a very romantic location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the harbor.

This is our second stay at the Miramare and 3rd time in Naples. We love the convenient location to seaside, restaurants and shops. But most of all we love the attitude of the owner and staff. There is nothing that they won't do for you whether it be simple dining suggestions or more complex tour requests, transport etc. This makes it a standout hotel for me. The rooms are a reasonable size. We are a family of 4 so we book 2 interconnecting rooms with the right bed configuration for adult couple and kids. Nice view out onto Bay of Naples. The top floor terrace for breakfast is very special. You get an even better view in the morning looking out. The breakfasts are simple cereals, meats and egg dishes with all fresh tasty ingredients. The kids had hot chocolates which must be made out of real chocolate. They loved them. In the evening there are drinks for guests which is nice before heading for dinner. In summary, a great location to stay. We will definitely return next year.

After an exhausting flight to Naples,we pulled up to Hotel Miramare. From the moment we stepped foot onto the property we were made to feel welcome and well taken care of. Giussepe greeted us with a warm smile and offered us a sea view room if we waited 20 minutes at no extra charge.
The hotel has high ceilings and old world charm. We took the little elevator up to the room and were so pleased. It was tranquil with doors and shutters opening up on 2 sides with balcony's. Even the bathroom had the same doors and balcony. This was a large bathroom w/toiletries,slippers,bathrobes,many towels, tub & shower w/jets on the side.
The room had cable and wireless airport.
The view of the Bay of Naples from the balcony is tremendous. So beautiful and late at night(jet lag) it's pretty much the make-out spot for some young Neapolitans.
The owner was so sweet when we came in from walking around town. He introduced himself and is clearly proud of his hotel(he should be). He offered us a welcoming drink of prosecco.
Breakfast on the rooftop was stunning. Flowers, umbrellas over the tables and a fantastic breakfast spread.Great service and delicious omelette(shared),cappuccino, fabulous cheeses, meats and pasteries was the best. This is a beautiful hotel with perfect hospitality, great location and comfort in every way.
The next morning we walked 10-15 minutes along the water to the ferry.
I want to go back to Naples and I will stay here.No question.
