So this is a castle however you pay more to see the view. There is a slight brief history provided on some information boards but it’s all about the view. 360 degrees of Naples. On a clear day you can see the inter land as well as the islands in the gulf of Naples.
A quick note - It’s mainly all up hill with a few steps at the top to get on the castle wall, so quite accessible and even if you don’t get up to the top you still get an excellent view as you make you way up to the castle.

Tried to visit twice, to no avail. First attempt, I followed the hours posted on the website, only to find that it had closed early. I tried again a day later mid-afternoon, and when I walked through the gate, I was shooed out by an attendant who then closed the gates and locked them. The view from the road outside the castle is fabulous, so I can only conclude that those inside are even more so, but I'll never know. I can't really recommend that one visit a place if that place is so unreliable about its opening hours.

Visit this sight when going to Certosa di San Martino. Great views of the bay, while visiting a well preserved fortress. However, be sure to have on comfortable walking shoes. The walk to and within the castle is all uphill. The walk itself is made of stones, so good shoes will make the going more comfortable.

We came here as we wanted tl see the incredible views of the bay of Naples. To get here find the funicular line at Auguesteo off Via Toledo then take the line to Piazza Fuga and its about a 5 min walk from the station. Once there its 5 euros to get in which is well worth the money just for the views alone. The Castle is in fantastic condition and you can walk around the castle taking in the 360 views of Naples. There is also a art museum up at the top but we didnt go in. So glad we found the time to come up here
