The only interesting thing is the view which is really amazing. The cable car can take you up to the top after what 5€ is the cost of the entrance.
Nothing else to see beside the view.
My advice is to visit by night time and make some really nice pics.

first Sunday of the month is free to get in to admire outstanding views of the bay of Naples. Highly recommended and also a visit to the Certosa di San Martino nearby

This castle was really cool. There was a contemporary art thing but it was not the reason to go visit. The reason to go visit is the 360 degree view of the city of Naples. It is marvelous, from the water to the old city to the rolling hills. It is hot up at the top so be sure to wear sunscreen. Fun trick; if you but your head in the battlements there is a strong and pleasant breeze that cools you off in the hot Neapolitan sun.

We were in Naples for a cruise and had a little bit of time to explore the city. We saw a castle sitting on top of the major hill in the area and decided that it would be cool to walk to it. It was a long and strenuous walk, but we're glad we did it. The views were really great, and it made for some fun memories.

I'm not sure what else might actually be at the castle. I think there might be a museum or something, but unfortunately we didn't have time to explore it.

So if you're looking for a great view of Naples, Vesuvius, and the sea, climbing up to the castle is a great idea. Not only do you get an awesome view, you get a great workout as well.

You can get to the castle either by taking the funicular or the monumental stairs...the stairs are more rewarding but it was good to take the funicular down. Great views and interesting architecture and buildings. This is one of those times when the Neapolitan lack of interest in tourism really shows...no concessions near by (and it was hot), no guides, not many benches, no real brochures or information, the museum is somewhat removed from the castle so bring your Lonely Planet guide (or whatever) if you want/need more than panoramic views.
