This hotel is great as a base for exploring Sorrento, Pompeii, Herculaneum and the Bay of Naples. It’s 10 minutes from the train station and the entrance to the Pompeii ruins. Although take care when planning your arrival - that 10 minutes is all uphill with pavements that are either badly damaged or non existent. Made dragging the cases up very difficult for my parents and I!
Rooms are basic (all that I needed though - a bed and a wardrobe and a bathroom) but very clean and comfy with air con.
Pool was also very clean and well maintained - if a bit chilly when the sun went off it in the afternoon!
The food is definitely the best thing though - this is a small family run hotel (10 rooms in total I think) and you have the option to eat dinner at 7.30 by the pool. There’s no menu - you’re brought whatever is being cooked but it is all incredible! Home cooked, fresh and amazing! Different menu every night and I always left the table absolutely full to bursting.
Breakfast was served each day by the pool - a buffet style continental breakfast which was a great start to each days exploring.
The train line does run right by the hotel but the trains stop at 10pm and don’t start until 7am.

We only booked one night at Villa Franca so we could tour the ruins, but our stay turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip.

The people who operate Villa Franca are so accommodating that it is like visiting family. We were greeted with complimentary beer and water. We then dove into their wonderful pool as it was very hot and we had spent the day training it from Venice.

If you book at Villa Franca, you must order the evening dinner (and lunch too, for that matter). It was the best meal of our trip, a seemingly never-ending supply of mouth-watering Italian delights.

The next morning we toured the ruins and returned to Villa Franca for a swim, showers, and lunch. Again, it was marvelous - a salad and homemade pasta.

If you plan on visiting the ruins, Villa Franca is the choice of accommodations for you. The rooms are good, the food is tremendous, and the hospitality is unbelievable.

A gem of a place. A short walk from Pompei Scavi station on the Circumvesuviana. This is a family owned guest house which offers a welcome at check in that included croissants and coffee. Rooms are simple but clean with air conditioning. Perfectly good small pool that you could swim in at night. A fantastic meal is available at night. Substantial starter with hot and cold offerings followed by pasta and dessert. The wine and limoncello also flowed.
Highly recommended

We stayed at Villa Franca for 2 nights whilst visiting Pompei and Vesuvius. Our flight didn’t arrive till after 7. We decided to get the train from Naples. When they called to see where we were and realised the station we would arrived in was the other side off Pompei, they insisted on picking us up and on our departure dropping us of back at the same station to make our onward journey to Amelfi easier. We were offered free beer when we finally did arrive at 10pm. The room was clean, air conditioned and comfortable. Although basic. Breakfast was continental, with more than enough food. Although I might suggest some of it be covered. The pool clean and quite. The optional evening meal was tasty authentic Italian, where seconds were offered. The staff where friendly and helpful on pointing us towards the local sites. The place is directly next to a train line, but isn’t too noisy . A great place to stay if you are seeing the sites. Would highly recommend it.
