During our recent stay in Rome our hotel was located at the top of the Spanish steps. Ciampini was just steps away and we were incredulous about how good it would be as it was a prime location for a tourist trap. We stopped in there late one night after a tour to get a bite. It looked like they were closed (it was 22:45). They welcomed us and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of food and service at, what I considered, very fair prices. Since we were in Rome for over a week we returned two other times, once for a long leisurely lunch (try the truffle risotto!) and once for another late night dinner with a bottle of sparkling wine. The view is lovely day or night. Each time we were made to feel special and service was superb. I will visit again when back in Rome!
