Compared to the other places we stayed in Italy, this is quite basic, but you get what you paid for. The room is big, but our room was quite dark and the furniture hand me down type. Even though I'm sure the room was clean it just felt dirty, because of the darkness and the furniture. It was a bit noisy at night, even with the windows and shutters closed but luckily i had ear plugs. Its a short bus ride to termini (dont bother catching the train, its a further walk and their metro really sucks). We only discovered the market down the road on our last day and got the most amazing sandwich made at the deli there. Very simple but beat any of the meals we had in Rome! The bathroom was clean (you get a key to your own bathroom) although in ours, the shower leaked to the outside. Roberta was friendly and easy going.

B&B Almacromondo is absolute perfection. Roberta is the perfect hostess from the very beginning. She emailed us before we were to depart from Florence to make sure that she was there when we arrived the next day. She also emailed us a map and how-to-get there information. The directions to the apartment are simple and clear, and we got there on our own with no problems. Basically, you take Bus #90 from Rome Termini and get off at the 2nd stop, Porta Pia (it should take about 5 minutes). From the bus stop, cross the road, turn right and walk pass the restaurants and shops. You should walk pass a Hotel Turner. Look out for the Via Messina- it should be the first street on your left. No. 31 is near the end of the street on the right. It took us a while to find the exact location of the apartment, but most people know where Via Messina is so do ask.

Once we were buzzed through we walked through a spacious courtyard and came to a building with white marble stairs. Roberta was waiting at top of the stairs to welcome us as we lugged our suitcases with us, and she graciously offered to help. The apartment is in a very well maintained residential block on the first floor. There is a lift but we didn't use it as we were not sure if it was in working order.

Anyway, Roberta speaks perfect English and gave us a tour of the apartment. There is a kitchen where you eat breakfast in the morning (the 2 days we were there there was cereal, cake, cookies, bread, coffee, chocolate, milk, orange juice and fresh melon- perfect start to the day!), the bathrooms are separate from the rooms but they are private and very clean, and the room itself is fantastic. Our room is air-conditioned with two large double beds, and a television. It is spacious and very stylish. After staying in a no-frills hostel this was heaven!

We bombarded Roberta with questions about anything from internet to transport to food. She really went out of her way to make sure that we were comfortable with everything. She even drew us a map to make sure that we knew our way round! The location is excellent. The bus stops are a short walk away, with buses going to Termini and the Spanish Steps. The metro station is Castro Pretorio and is about a brisk 10-minute walk away, which can be quite gruelling at midday as the route crosses very busy roads. We were told that the Spanish Steps is only 20 minutes away on foot, but since we had the Roma Pass and that we only had 2 days in Rome we didn't try.

There are lots of restaurants and takeaways nearby. I forgot the name of the restaurant we went to on our last night, but it was very reasonably priced and served excellent food. We also discovered a food market brimming with fresh fruits and vegetables. It is great that you can still enjoy good food even if you are too exhausted to go any further than the B&B's doorstep. If we had more time we would have stocked up on cheap and fresh Italian produce!

The area is also very safe- we walked back quite late at night from the metro but did not meet or see any dodgy people. It is very quiet and we didn't notice any bars around. In the morning, however, there is a street market just outside the other side of the apartment, and it does get quite noisy. But with the air conditioning on and the windows shut we didn't notice. There is also free wifi if you have your own devices to access it, a welcome change from the ridiculously priced internet services in other places. There is also a place nearby where you can pay for internet access and printing as well.

On the day we left Roberta was kind enough to let us stay till we had to catch our train at midday. We said goodbye with quite a heavy heart- we didn't really want to leave! If you ever go to Rome, B&B Almacromondo is THE place to stay. We will be back!

I stayed at Almacromondo twice in June; once by myself and once with my sister. Roberta, the owner, is very friendly, helpful and relaxed, and the B&B itself (a large, renovated apartment) is clean and spacious. The apartment is very close to major sights (a pleasant, 15 minute walk from the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain), and the rooms are huge. One small negative is the noise from the street below, but this wasn't a problem for us - if you're really keen on silence then it might be a problem.

Accommodation in Rome is expensive, and Almacromondo is very, very good value. Highly recommended if you're looking for clean, spacious accommodation in a friendly environment.

A nice and simple place that is good value. The people running it are very friendly. Free Wifi worked perfectly. The main downside: street noise. Right below your single-pane window people will start putting up market stalls at 4 A.M., and traffic on nearby main streets continues the better part of the nights. So - recommended mostly for people with ear plugs and sound sleepers.

Rome is an expensive destination and it's difficult to find a hotel/B&B for less than EUR80. We've stayed 4 nights at Almacromondo B&B and our experience was great. The location is about 15min by foot from the metro and the same for Termini station. The room was spacious and the furniture isn't new, but enough for a short stay. The breakfast has many items, major of them are sweet. Our only complaint is about the noise, but you have to know that it's Rome, and the traffic is too confusion. Roberta is a kind and helpful hostess.

The B&B is brand new.
It's in a totally renovated big apartment with spacious rooms and indipendent, clean bathrooms just in front of the rooms.
Rooms are clean and give a sense of hospitality. Beds are perfect, as well as air conditioning and sound isolation.

The owner makes you feel at home. Breakfast is very generous and based on bio-products, which I like a lot both from a taste and a choice standpoints.

The location of the B&S is perfect. Very close to buses and metro, you can also enjoy the nice area full of shops and restaurants.

I would recommend this B&B to families with kids.
Next time I go back to Rome, I will certanly choose AlMacroMondo again.
