“Bad service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2012

Booked this restaurant after looking on tripadvisor, so expertations where high. When we arrived the waiter was rude and not smiling. The same was the case with his wife which also served the food.
The food was ok, but not anything to go for.
When we tried to pay with Visa the waiter said that it was not possible. Then I asked for a ATM nearby and suddenly it was possible to pay with Visa??

Dear Sir,
I am very sorry that you have misinterpreted our behavior and that's why I'll try to explain.
Every place has its own habits and rules. Santa Cristina does not accept credit cards for amounts lower than EUR 100.00 and this is written on our website, our menu and on each mail response to online reservations, but probably not having booked, you could not know.
But it is not written anywhere that you can not ever pay with credit cards.
So, contrary to your negative impression, we believed to make a courtesy, avoiding you to go to seek an ATM, accepting payment by credit card even if for an amount lower than € 100.00.
So sorry that I made a wrong thing, believing to make a favour.
Kind regards.

“Choose wisely and it will pay off handsomely!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 April 2012

Visited this establishment without reservation when the ristorante was fully booked but the host was able to squeeze a table for us four as we came early.

Ordered porcini risotto, zucchini pasta, onion lasagna, and grillef seabass accompanied with house red wine from montepulciano region. The porcini risotto was out of this world, the zucchini pasta was worthy to be the house special, and the onion lasagna was perfect! The seabass and the house wine however, were indifferent. The seabass lacked taste and texture and the house wine tasted like it was left open for sometimes.

The bill for all came to €73, which is relatively cheap for an authentic Roman ristorante in vaux Rome area. Will definetely came again and will recommend this place to anyone visiting Rome down to what to order from the menu. One might try the fillet mignon as it is one of the highly acclaimed dish from Santa Cristina and it sure did look great.

“Great non nonsense Italian food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2012

Went with my wife after seeing the great reviews on TA and were not disappointed.
Lovely food, and great service in a lovely setting off the beaten track.
Would strongly recommend it.

“Average on everything”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2012

I'm sorry, but we experienced a very average visit both regarding the food, service and atmosphere. But come on the prices is in the low end so what can you expect. The single most significant thing from the visit was a risotto with very little or no parmesan cheese, that's a crime.

“This place is so good we went twice!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2012 via mobile

This restaurant would have to be one of the best in Rome. It's such a great little space and both the times we ate there it was packed. It's run by a family who really look after you. If you go definetly try the bolognaise and the beef Wellington with black truffles. Amazing! If you go I promise you won't be disappointed!
