Having traveled through European cities previously, I knew better than to expect accommodations like the U.S. (i.e. room size and amenities...unless you want to spend "a pretty penny" and be on the outskirts of the major city) So, I searched and searched for a hotel that looked CLEAN, especially the bathroom/shower.

Room size: we actually had enough roof to walk on either side of the bed and still had a decent amount of closet space which included a safe (ideal for our laptop).

Comfort: bed was a platform bed, a little firm but, which I thought was fine, Kenneth thought it was not bad. Overall, the room was inviting enough to just hang out and relax in without feeling claustrophobic.

Cleanliness: GREAT both room and bathroom....and if anyone prefers a clean bathroom, free of mold, this is it. (Note - just remember that the stand-up shower is smaller than normal U.S. showers so, don't be alarmed..it's common by European standards)

The I.Q. Hotel was very easy to get to from the Termini train station. We actually walked with our luggage in-tow. Although some may want to take a cab. It took maybe 10 minutes to walk and was great when we used the train for a day trip to Florence. We walked almost everywhere, the Coliseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps and took a short train/subway to Vatican City.

There were plenty of places to eat around the hotel but, the best breakfast bargain was the hotel's rooftop buffet..$10

Thank goodness for the past "trip advisor" reviews and the photos! Not only did we concur with the higher ratings we wanted to post our opinion, also.

Unfortunately we don't have any photos to post but, PLEASE look at others' pics. They're pretty accurate.

We would definitely stay there, again and recommend the I.Q. Hotel to others looking to stay in the heart of Rome.

Happy travels everyone - K & K

It's really a good stay at this hotel!
It's very close to the train station, Termini, and thus suitable for those visiting Roma by train.
I like the decoration very much. (Cute and innovative icons everywhere.)
In addition, the staffs are very warm-hearted.
If I have the chance back to Roma, I'll surely choose IQ!

The hotel is brand new and very well located nearby the Termini Station and not so far from the main attractions of Rome. The cleaning is very good. The bathroom is huge and shines! They have self-service laundry service, which was essential for our stay with young children. The staff in the front desk was very very helpful and provided us with useful information and also arranged for a perfect private guide for us. I strongly recommend this hotel.

My partner and I stayed here in late January, we were both impressed by the reception staff, the location is top notch, close to the main train station, and within easy walking distance to all the must see attractions that Rome offers. The only disappointment was the bed, the mattresses are very ordinary at best. Well done iq, well priced and recommend strongly.

Regarding the mattresses, we are sorry to hear that you found them to be uncomfortable. When creating iQ our main thought went to comfort and cleanliness in all aspects of the Hotel. However, we do understand that not everyone has the same taste therefore, having known about your distress with the mattresses, we would have tried to find a solution to make you sleep better.

For travelers who would like a little more and not have to spend a fortune, this is what you are looking for. I have not had good experiences in Rome with hotels and have been very wary of online reviews but on a recent four day lay-over on my way home from a rather grueling business and leisure trip to Europe and North Africa, I spent four nights here. The staff could not be more friendly and helpful, the location is great, and even though my room was on the ground floor and facing the street, it was very quiet during the day and at night. The room itself was large, very modern, bright and comfortable and the bathroom large, clean and with lots of light. The location is perfect and if you like walking, full of lovely discoveries on the way down to the Coliseum or along the Via Quatro Fontain and Via Sistina to the Spanish Steps. There is a fridge in the room and the breakfast on the top floor is a great value. This is a very modern, boutique style hotel and will (I am) sure become very popular and impossible to book especially at short notice.

Minimalist decoration, normal size rooms, comfortable bathroom (with shower, no bathtub), safe box, dedicated attention from employees, and amazing LOCATION.... located next to Repubblica metro station (line that takes you to Spagna, Popollo and Vatican city), a 5 minute walk to Santa Maria Maggiore, Monument to Vittorio Emanuele II and Fontana de Trevi and 10 min walk to San pietro in Vincoli and Colosseo. We went the weekend it snowed and with the ice, snow and rivers of water from the melted snow, we found that everything was very close and that Rome isn't as big as it would seem on the map.
On the 4th floor there are vending machines and microwave, it has a sauna and fitness room on the 1st floor (which we didn't use). The rooms have empty fridge, which we found very convenient, cause you can buy water, yogurt, fruits, limoncello, etc and have it when you want.
There's a great little restaurant one block away, which is also recommended by tripadvisor, but I’m incapable of remembering the name.
Il Grillo Parlante, another great restaurant near Piazza del Popollo.
For sure I will stay here again next time in Rome.
