“Very Good”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 May 2012

I'm glad I picked the iQ Roma to stay in and managed to get a good room only rate through Thomas Cook hotels and flights with Ryan Air. We took the Terra Vision bus from the airport to the Termini Station for 8 Euros each return. The hotel is only about 500m from the Termini but somehow we managed to get a little lost and ended up walking for ages despite asking people for directions and having a little map, so if you are going to the hotel via the station then print out a detailed map before you go :-)
The check in was smooth and quick and our room was ready immediately even though we were a few hours before the official check in time.
We had room 203 on the 2nd floor and the street noise was a little annoying at night when we had the doors / windows open but when they were closed it was fine.
The air con kept the room nice and cool when the window / doors were shut.
The room had a shower in the bathroom which was nice.
The room and the hotel was clean.
The only TV channel in English was CNN with some shows on MTV in English too but that wasn't a problem.
The breakfast was 10 euros each and was OK - nothing fabulous but good enough.
The water from the vending machines was 70 cents for a 500ml bottle which isn't exactly expensive but if you just pop to the DeSpar shop on Nationale (just round the corner) they sold 2litre bottles of water from the shelf for 45 cents (it was more from the fridge). The rooms in the hotel also had a mini fridge to keep drinks cool.
The 5th floor had an outside area with seats and tables which was nice and peaceful to sit and relax.
The location is good and we walked to the Colosseum in about 15 minutes although the walk to the Vatican was longer.
We got a Taxi back from the Vatican to the centre of Rome and a word of advice - they are prone to saying you gave less money than you did - our guide at the Vatican told us this and so when we handed over a 50 Euro bill for the 18 Euro fare we said that's a 50 but the driver still put that on his lap, held out a 10 Euro bill and said another 8 was needed.
If I went back to Rome I would certainly look at staying in the iQ Roma again.

This is a hotel full of good things: perfect location just by the train station, brand new and very clean. Service is also very good and the stuff is always willing to help.

Some things to improve though: breakfast and the bed, which was extremely hard.
Rooms are a bit too small for 2 people, but I guess that's Rome!

I recommend this hotel but I would not personally come back.

there are so many things to like about this hotel it is clean and modern and so easy to navigate. Love that you can buy a half bottle or full bottle of good wine from the vending machines and have it on the rooftop or your room, love that they have a laundry and that it is in walking distance to everything. We love walking and had no problems walking to the vatican and the suburb of testicco and we are in our very late 40s. love that there are some great delis for brekky that do a wonderful coffee and cornetto, the room was quiet and we slept well.

Room Tip: no real street noise and we were on the first floor

This hotel is amazing. Very modern. Great staff. They helped us out with all of our travelling questions. They have a great terrace. We loved the vending machines! They had bottles of wine for only 5 euro, beer, soda, snacks, coffee, even the bottled water was only 0.50 euro. The beds were comfortable. The rooms were big.The location is great. The train station and metro are only 5-10 mins away. I honestly don't have a single thing bad to say about the hotel other than they were sold out the rest of the nights we wanted to stay! If it is available, book it!

I had my doubts due to the reasonable rate but I was very pleasently surprised. The location is close to Termini and Metro, the staff is friendly, the room was very clean, and the roof top terrace was a nice place to relax at the end of the day. The bed was a little hard, but that's not uncommon. I stayed at the St. Regis Grand on my previous visit but I will be staying at the iQ if I return to Rome.

Room Tip: Request a room on the back side on floors 1 - 4 if you want quiet.

I found this hotel on Trip Advisor, and decided to book based on all of the positive reviews. I must say, VERY PLEASED! The staff was nice, and the rooms were a perfect size for my friend and I (and our huge bags). Very convenient to train stations, and major attractions. The upstairs terrace was really cool, and the mini-bar in the lobby was nice for a night cap before bed. Next time I come to Rome, I'll definitely stay here again.
