First, I should say that our room was small and a bit spartan. The terrace faced north, so it was in the shade and always a bit too chilly (it was early March) to use. (And you get cigarette smoke from nearby terraces.)

But the people here are wonderful. They helped us in many situations, like making museum reservations, recommending places, or educating us about grappa. But they also helped out in unusual situations, too. (A missing computer cable...)

The round-table dinners are a lot of fun and an excellent value. A good way to meet other travelers, especially because business people also stay here. (We had a fascinating conversation with an NGO worker, for instance.)

Our room was very quiet, the hotel is on a quiet street but in a great location.

The shared spaces are wonderful. There are two big lobbies with comfortable couches and chairs, and a big, comfortable bar. We did most of our WiFi access and reading in the lobby. (Note the free WiFi, too. Generally a decent signal and good bandwidth.)

We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to all our friends.

Room Tip: I'd say avoid the terrace rooms (unless you take a suite). Rooms vary a lot in size.

Excellent, family run hotel. Always bright and cheery. Gourmet meals. Sparkling clean rooms. Friendly, helpful and kind staff. We were there 9 nights and every day was special.

Room Tip: I've stayed in many different rooms of the hotel and have found all of them to be very good. I especially like the rooms that have a verandah on the second floor.

My 10 year old grandaughter and I visited Rome for a week this last March, 2012. We were fortunate to get a hotel Lancelot recomendation from friends. I have stayed in 2 to 5 star hotels all over the world. Hotel Lancelot is my favorite. We were lucky enough to have stayed on the 6th floor with a view of the Coliseum and the city. We also paid a bit more for a terrace which was well worth the extra money. The staff was friendly and helpful. The seating arrangement at breakfast was deliberately arranged so that we had a chance to meet many other interesting people. My grandaughter is shy and somewhat picky with food. She was very happy with the breakfast choices and the chance to meet other people. We had dinner there three times and each time the dinner was wonderful. As others have said, the location is very good and the help from the front desk outstanding.

Room Tip: Sixth floor has great views.

We just returned from our first trip to Rome, 9 of those nights were at Hotel Lancelot. We cannot say enough good things about this delightful hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet is excellent. They even sell bus and metro tickets. The hotel is easy walking distance from many good restaurants and a gelato shop is right around the corner. We only ate dinner at the hotel one night but we were amazed at the delicious food including dessert, house wines and even an after dinner drink for 25E each, which is a good deal in Rome. We ate there towards the end of our stay, and had we known how good the dinner was, we would have eaten there more often. Dinner is served at round tables and we met many interesting people, quite a few who were repeat guests at the Lancelot. The hotel also has a cozy bar with comfortable seats where the friendly staff will serve you - usually you run into other guests there and can share the day's experiences. Our room was very comfortable, quiet, and had drawers and hanging space for clothes . From Capo d'Africa you are a few blocks walk to bus stops, the Colosseum, Forum, Palatine Hill and also a taxi stand. They are also very close to two historic churches, San Clemente and Santi Quatro Coronati. I highly recommend it!

We stayed her in March of 2012. We picked it primarily because we had a rental car and they provided parking. It was easy to find with a GPS and the parking was secure in a gated courtyard. The accomodations were fine and the people working the desk were extremely helpful. The location is on a quiet side street within walking distance to the Coliseum. The Vatican is a hike, so we took a taxi. They recommended a couple of nice little restaurants that were right around the corner that were excellent and affordable. I would recommend the Lancelot, especially if you have a car.
