We had a few hours before our flight and it was a choice between eating at the airport or finding somewhere in Rome. A couple of locals recommended il Molo and the decision was made. There were no regrets.

This is not a smart establishment, but nor is it grotty, and it offered really all one could wish for from a local restaurant.

We declined the anti pasti but what subsequently arrived at the adjacent table looked very good. Next time. Our two plates of pasta and one fish were simple but very well prepared and delicious. The fish, incidentally, came from a refrigerated display case by the door - it was well stocked and all looked very fresh.

Two mystery carafes arrived with coffee, condensation forming on the sides on a rather warm day. I was informed that one was grappa and the other myrtle(!). Having determined to stop drinking for the month, I resisted both but my companions made good inroads into the myrtle. We weren't obviously charged for these and I was a nice touch.

This bill for three main courses, water, coffee etc. came to €50. Excellent value - not least because it was only the memories of a good lunch that sustained me through the later Al Italia flight back to London. Nothing wrong with Al Italia but my fellow passengers - a riot of Italian teenagers - made the three hour journey feel very very long. Should have had the myrtle after all.

We wandered into this little restaurant at night for a light meal. We chose the Rice and Prawn dish which was 12 Euros. We thought the prices were expensive, but in Rome, most things are. We waited 40 minutes for our meal to arrive. It was okay. The restaurant wasn't overally crowded.

Food and service quality is really good. Prices are moderate and they worth it.You should definetely try couple of seafood starters.

This restaurant seems to be a place where local people go to have their family dinners, which is always a good sign. Great service, good food, nice place to enjoy a meal in Roman style.
