“Beautiful, peaceful retreat”
Reviewed 20 April 2012

Good value for a high end retreat a bit removed from the hustle and bustle of Rome but still easily accessible. This is an especially good base for visiting the Borghese Gallery and gardens and the zoo. There is a tram stop just down the street but we walked everywhere without a problem. The best breakfast in Rome, which was included in our rate, is served in the most gorgeous room with beautiful artwork and lovely fresh flowers. I didn't want to leave! Our room was unexpectedly quite large, a real luxury in Rome. We even had a patio with orange trees.

This was absolutely the best hotel. Everyone there was so nice and helpful. The room was gorgeous, spotless and large, as was the bathroom. The amenities were really nice. The breakfast buffet was a delicious variety of pastries, cereal, eggs, smoked fish, cheeses a variety of juices, coffee and teas. The hotel was right at The Borghese Park which is also something spectacular. It was close enough to all the great tourist attractions by cab or walk through the park but also in a very beautiful part of the city. I can't recommend this place enough and will definitely stay here again whenever in Rome.

nicely sized well-appointed room...very nice included breakfast including carafes of coffee for those wishing a break from espresso. Staff incredibly attentive (ask for both Andreas!) hotel bar downstairs with a piano very comfortable after a long day of sightseeing One warning, the location, above the Borghese Gardens may be a tad off the beaten track for some folks...you will need to walk through/around the gardens or get a cab to get places, including the Metro. (and its all downhill from the hotel...) All in all, we loved this hotel and would return here when next in Rome...

Room Tip: if you have a choice, view a couple, some seem to have terrific views

One of the nicest hotels I have stayed at anywhere. The two "terrible" reviews must be about a different hotel. Our room was fairly large, comfortable and well appointed, with a large bath room and an entrance foyer with a closet and plenty of drawer space.

The staff was friendly, attentive and very helpful, particularly Andrea, the concierge, and the barman Nicola.

We knew beforehand that it is not centrally located and that there are no inexpensive restaurants nearby, but this is more than offset by the beautiful and tranquil area in which it is located.

The hotel restaurant is excellent, as is the nearby Pagoroma. Also nearby is the not quite as good but more moderately priced Ambasciata d' Abruzzo. The buffet breakfast had almost anything you would want, from cereals and yogurt to eggs, cheeses, smoked salmon, fruit, breads and pastries.

I cannot recommend this hotel too highly.

A special attraction for me was the very fine collection of Art Deco furniture and decorative arts. The public areas are filled with many museum pieces - wood and upholstered furniture, lamps, tables, bronzes and more.

Excellent friendly service in a peaceful location, a good 20 minute walk into the centre of Rome, so if you are in need of good excercise then it is a pleasant walk through the park of Villa Borghesi. Because of the location and having had lots of excersice you will be tempted to have dinner in the hotel. Breakfast in the hotel was excellent however we had dinner in the restaurant on two occasions ,on one evening it was pleasant , however on the Saturday evening, the food was poor. The service was excellent however I felt that even the waiter was uncomfortable about the quality of the food being served. The rooms
were comfortable if slightly dated, however we felt that it was good value in comparrison to many hotels in the centre of Rome.

The Lord Bryron hotel feels like an elegant Art Deco villa. The rooms, lobby and breakfast room are very nicely decorated. Beautiful carpets, marbel and paintings. The staff is very friendly. The hotel is located at an upscale residential neighberhood near the Borghese Gardens. It is about a 20 minutes walk to Piazza di Spagna at the heart of Rome. The metro stop is 15 minutes walk. So the location is not ideal if you like to be located right in the center of the tourist sites, however, walking the beautiful streets of Rome is a pleasure, and we even walked to the Vatican (about half an hour). We had the Classic room which is somewhat small for a five star hotel, however, the room was functional and adequate for 2 adults with 2 large suitcases. The mirror in the bathrooms had permanent stains and should be replaced. Other than the mirror, the room was beautiful. Being on the lower floor, we could hear when people above us were showering a sound of water falling. Not a big deal. Breakfast is tasty, the cappucinno great. Overall I highly recommend this elegant boutique hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at a higher floor.

Our stay at the Lord Byron was nearly perfect. The service was impeccable. Breakfast was wonderful. The walk to the Metro stop at Flaminia was 15 minutes. When in a hurry - like to get to the Vatican - we grabbed a taxi for 10 euro. We did walk back. Restaurants in the area are Ambriatta de Abruzzo and Pagaroma - we went to both twice for dinner. We recommend the Lord Byron without any hesitation.

Room Tip: Be sure to get breakfast included.
