Well situated, reasonably easy walk to main attractions, comfortable rooms (if a little small), extremely welcoming and helpful staff, excellent breakfast buffet and good value- what more could you want.

Room Tip: Top floor- some near roof terrace.

I saw the steps at the entrance but at the side there was a lift in what looked like a wooden panel. It opened with a switch and I was up the few feet almost as quickly as those on foot. The location was excellent and very near the Piazza Cavour. The Vatican was close by as were the Piazza Navono and Popolo.
I loved the two bathrooms with one suited for disabilities. These facilities are excellent. the Hotel is quiet and warm and the staff are very friendly with plenty of helpful advice on local sites. The price secured on Voyage Prive was excellent as well. €115 p.n for two for a good room in central room was excellent value. This price was on a special deal for four nights from Voyage Privé.

The rooms & bathrooms were clean & a good size for a city centre hotel. Our king sized bed was very comfortable & we both slept well. The double glazing cuts out a lot of the city noise but I would still bring ear plugs. The quality of the breakfast food & drink was OK & when we were there (early March) it never got very busy.
The best thing about this hotel is it's location, you are within a reasonable walking distance of the Vatican & the Castel Sant' Angelo (15/20 mins), Piazza's Novona & del Popolo (both 10/15 mins) & the Via del Corso (10/15 mins). The Galleria Borghese is also a pleasant 30 min stroll through the park. For everything else Lepanto metro is a 10 min walk away. There is also an excellent restaurant just round the corner (Ristorante Laurus, 33 Via G.G. Bellini) with great bucatini cacio e pepe.

Thank you for your comment and for staying with us .
As you say correctly, our strength is the LOCATON. Rome is a big city, but from Hotel dei Mellini you can really reach by foot the best historical and cultural locations.
Hope to se you again.

In advance of my travel to Rome, I exchanged several emails with the person responding to the hotel's email (Ms. Gagliardi) regarding the availability of guides for private tours, the need for advance reservations at restaurants and other inquiries. Ms. Gagliardi arranged tours for us and gave us recommendations on restaurants. Upon arrival, the desk clerk confirmed the time and meeting point (lobby of hotel) for our adventures. The desk clerk also called taxis, gave us advice on tipping at Italian restaurants (a topic on which I am still confused) and actually called a restaurant for us when my lack of ability to speak Italian presented an obstacle to communication. The hotel property was lovely and the venue for the breakfast (which was included in the price) was contemporary and welcoming. However, the staff is the most impressive aspect of this hotel.

Booked whole trip using airmiles. Hotel very nice, friendly helpful staff, rooms spotless, no noise, breakfast fine without being wonderful, Don't have room service evenng meal - very small portions and lots of rolls with no butter! Bar (small in main foyer) serves a nice local Frascati at a very reasonable price. Walking distance if you are a walker to most of the major sites. DO book Vatican visit on the web and by-pass all the queues which are miles long and this in February. St Peter's Basillica is a must and for us, more WOW than the Vatican.

Room Tip: our room 213 was good and quiet. do not know about the others

Ideal location next to the river and easy walking distance to either Vatican city or Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. Quiet area. Rooms are very good, staff multi lingual, friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good with plenty of choice. Bar is a let down with seating for only 6 people and limited choice so give it a miss and drink elsewhere!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel dei Mellini, Rome. It made our long weekend break even more enjoyable. The hotel is in a fantastic location and is walking distance to most of the major attractions. We walked to the Colosseum (45mins), the Pantheon (20mins), Trevi Fountain (20mins), Spanish Steps (20mins), The Vatican Museum (25mins), Stadio Olympico (45mins) and Castle of St Angelo from the hotel. We were lucky that we were able to walk, as it snowed quite heavily while we were in Rome and public transport was somewhat sporadic! The rooms are spacious and clean. The bathrooms are also a good size and very clean. Our lasting memory from the hotel was the comfort of the bed. It was fantastic and we both slept very well while there. We have contacted the hotel since returning home and have asked for the bed manufacturer (which they very kindly supplied) and are now on the hunt for a comparable mattress in the UK! The staff are very friendly and obliging. The breakfast is good. Internet access is very reasonable at 10Euros for three days.

Room Tip: They have small suites available which are great if you are there with friends for drinks before goi...
