This is a beautiful hotel in a central location. It is situated on Via Ludovisi, a quiet side street a short walk from Harry's Bar and other restaurants and bars. There were a few areas (stairways and corridors) that needed a touch of paint, but otherwise the decor was very appealing.

Our room (407) was very clean and the double bed was comfortable. However our pillows were awful; one was particularly lumpy and the others were just flat. We should have asked reception to get them changed, and I'm sure they would if we had taken the time to ask, as the staff were very welcoming and helpful. As stated in another review, the walls are very thin! I suspect we were there at the same time - 1st to 5th June 2012.

We thought there was a good selection for breakfast, which is self service and in the basement. We did not eat in the restaurant at the hotel but had drinks on the rooftop terrace, which was quite romantic overlooking Rome under a full moon. The service was good however we thought the drinks were a bit overpriced and my Bellini wasn't the best I've ever had.

That said, our overall experience was a delightful one and we would recommend to other travellers considering this hotel.

If you like walking you can reach all the major sites on foot. Colosseum and Vatican both approx half an hour walk from the hotel.

On a separate note we had booked a tour of the Vatican on Saturday, 2nd June; we had not realised that as this was Republic Day (bank holiday) all the major monuments, colosseum etc were all closed. This meant everyone went to Vatican City because it was the only place that was open, due to it being a different country. As you would expect it was extremely busy with approx 40,000 people. You may want to consider this if travelling to Rome in the future.

This hotel is lovely; We have just got back from our stay here, there are some bad reviews on here in regards to decor and breakfast. The decor is tastefully decorated; the "old" style gives it the true meaning of Rome. The room was very spacious, it was freshly cleaned every day, clean linen, towels etc. Although I would say the walls are very thin! I could not fault the decor, rooms and service in anyway. The staff was very friendly and helpful, they spoke very good English and were not rude in anyway. The breakfast was great, enough variety for Breakfast, and enough to keep you going.
The roof top terrace bar and restaurant was reasonably priced and lovely. We did not eat there as there were so many good bars/restaurants to get around in Rome itself. I would recommend to explore and visit restaurants. Don’t be afraid to ask the hotel staff for recommendations, they were very helpful and everything they suggested was amazing.
The location of the hotel was spot on. As we all are when we go somewhere we haven’t been before, we don’t know what will be on our doorstep. We didn’t get one taxi all week. You could walk to every site, the Trevi, Collesium, Pantheon, Spanish steps etc etc, as well as local shops and bars.
All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly go back. Big thumbs up to the Hotel Savoy.

This is a lovely hotel in a good area of town, just off the Via Veneto. As mentioned elsewhere a good base for sightseeing, with the added benefit on being on the route hop on hop off open top bus routes.

The hotel is clean and tidy, the staff polite and efficient, all of them seem to speak good English, German, French etc. The rooms are well equipped and as you would expect for a good four start hotel.

We can recommend the resturant food, the resturant clearly has a good chef, but expect to pay towards the top end of prices compared to non-hotel resturants.

Million dollar question - would we go back? Yes - no hestitation.

What a lovely hotel with beautiful decor and a great roof-top bar/restaurant with superb views over Rome.
A quiet and peaceful hotel near The Villa Borghese and the American Embassy whose staff were helpful and friendly at all times.

Breakfast downstairs in the basement room which was beautifully decorated and designed was a great way to start the sightseeing day and the hotel is within easy walking distance of the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps and the Villa Borghese Park.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Thid place is just an old palace and therefore the rooms have its limits and you MUST AVOID a room with a 19 at end (219,319,419...) - they are next to the elevator, you hear it possibly all night, depends on your sleep.

The topfloor restaurant was a good choice, friendly service and helpful and good food, octopus salat.

The reception, a bunch of old Romas, but, surely they have seen it all and are quite effective, so we were happy with the service and cant complain

Breakfast, yes, its downstairs, a bit dark, but lots of helpful service folks and a kind of limited supply of food, surely the orange juice isnto freshly squeezed, but again, we paid only 18o euros a night.... and BREAKFAST was INCLUDED, so a freeby, no complians.

Will come back,

Room tip: avoid the 2.19, 3.19, 4.19, 5.19 room numbers
