“Great Stay, Great Service And Great Amenities”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2012

The five nights we spent at the Crowne Plaza, Rome- St Peter’s was exactly what we were looking for on the second leg of our 2 week Europe vacation. We did not rent a car in Italy, so we took full advantage of the free shuttle service to St Peter’s Basilica area and downtown Rome. We also used the airport pick-up service for our arrival which was very convenient. The customer service was top-notch, our room and bed very comfortable, and wi-fi accessible. They even provided a small, free, aromatherapy sleep kit during our stay with lavender linen mist. We are loyal to the Intercontinental/Holiday Inn brands and could of stayed in downtown Rome area, but liked the spa the Crowne had to offer and the shuttle service. Also, most of the downtown hotels were double the price of the Crowne Plaza and we spend little time in our room when traveling. Nonetheless, we had a lovely king room with a balcony, honor bar, and a large bathroom complete with bidet, fluffy robe and slippers for the spa. We thought it was an excellent value for the price, comfort, service and amenities. A couple of helpful things to know before you go: If needed, the hotel can usually change money for guests for a lot less then the banks or money changing businesses which sometimes charge up to 30-40%; if you stay here, and could use the down time, make time to try the spa and steam rooms; finally, there is a great little restaurant a few minutes walk down the road called La Nocetta

Room Tip: My husband and I were given a room on a "quiet" floor and had no problems whatsoever with...

We were surprised to find a beautiful hotel in a very nice setting. The rooms were spacious and super clean and the staff always helpful and friendly. The hotel is not central but connections with the city centre are very good and at the end of a long day it was nice to go back to a comfortable and quiet place without paying the excessive prices of centrally located hotels. Breakfasts were very rich and with good quality selection.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the garden.

An old Crowne Plaza in need of renovation - of which they are doing!. A bit weird checking in at a reception desk lit by a flood light! However the works did not interfere with our stay. Room was as expected from this level of hotel. Staff very friendly. Buffet breakfast was a great start to the day, plenty of choice and being a buffet - you can fill your boots!
Fab location for visiting Rome, a local bus stops right outside the hotel - 1 euro and your outside the Vatican within 15mins!
Would definitely stay again and i expect that when the hotel has been given a lick of paint it will only add to the stay. Didn't use spa facilities but they looked great, as to would the outdoor pool in the summer.

This was our second stay at this location. They are currently in the midst of some renovations to update the lobby and common areas. So far it looks great. We checked in on Good Friday, which was a zoo considering the construction had part of the front desk shut down and at least 40 people trying to check in and out at the same time. The staff was kind and handled the rush with aplomb. When we stayed before, it was primarily due to the free shuttle to the airport. This is no longer the case, they charge 15 euro each way. This will impact our choice to stay here in the future. We ordered room service and it arrived quickly and perfect. They are in a sort of isolated area, but it is quiet and near a bus stop. They also do offer free daily shuttle service to Vatican Square in the morning and the city center in the afternoon. The a/c in our room did not work at ALL.

Dear Estevanico,
Thank you for taking the time to share with us your feedback on your recent stay and to have chosen for the second time our Crowne Plaza Rome St. Peter’s!
We would like to put on record that the renovation works for the Bar, Reception, lobby have been completed and now you will be able to experience a new modern and contemporary style.
Regarding the airport shuttle, since 2 years, we have introduced extra runs and more options in order to meet flights connections. The cost of € 14,00 allows us to guarantee this great service well appreciated from all our guests. By contacting our reservations dep. (cpstpeter@hotel-invest.com), you can reserve your seats and assure a safe travel to the Hotel.
We regret the fact that you found “we are in a sort of isolated area”, please allow me to explain, as you have mentioned, that the Hotel offers a regular courtesy bus (1€ one way, 2€ return), greatly appreciated from all our guest staying with us. The bus runs on a regular basis to St. Peter's Basilica in the morning and to the heart of the city center (Venice square) in the afternoon and evening. Moreover 2 different public busses are available just at the doorstep of the hotel (only at 1 euro cost to reach downtown which is only 5 km far from our Hotel), or reach the nearest metro station and in 20 minutes discover all the main attractions in the heart of Rome. In addition Taxis are always readily available (taxi stand on site in our car park) and cost only 12 euros to get in to the city center.
We regret that you will not stay again in the future only for the cost of the shuttle. In any case you would have to consider the cost of the taxi that is even more expensive (at least € 45 each way). With Kind regards. Davide Grilli, General Manager.

What can I say, the hotel did everything that it was supposed to. The staff were nice, minor gripes were dealt with quickly and politely.
Bedrooms were nice and spacious and with a large balcony area.
Breakfast was a nice buffet, the evening bar man was a delight and good fun.
The pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room all worked and were all hot.
All in all, a really nice stay, a 10 minute taxi ride to the centre of Rome, no real problem but I didn't find out about the shuttle bus until our last day.
Stupid of me !
Never used the restaurant so I can't comment , but I heard good things about it.

We are just at the end of our two week trip in Italy and the last two days of our trip in Rome we stayed at Crowne Plaza. The beginning of our trip we stayed for 5 nights at Hotel Romanico Palace (very close to the US Embassy). The earlier location was excellent and we were centrally located.

The last two days of our trip we were in Crowne Plaza, which claims to be near St Peters.... but it is not close to anything and the shuttle which goes from 9 am to noon (hourly) to St Peters and then from 4 pm to 9 pm (hourly) to Piazza Venezia is almost useless.

You will spend over 45 minutes of your time each way on these trips due to traffic.

The rooms are nothing great, the bathrooms are not well maintained, overall, the place looks quite run down.
Will not stay here again on future trips to Rome.

Room Tip: Stay as close to the Spanish Steps , Trevi as possible. This hotel is too far away and you will end...

Dear rans_travel,
Thank you for taking the time to share with us your feedback on your recent stay!
Concerning our location, we are only 3 kms far from the Vatican and main attractions. As you mentioned we offer a regular courtesy bus, greatly appreciated from all our guest staying with us. The bus runs on a regular basis to St. Peter's Basilica in the morning and to the heart of the city Centre (Venice square) in the afternoon and evening (20 minutes each way).

We agree with you that we are not near the Spanish Steps and Trevi fountain but other travelers says about us: “nestled away in a tranquil and peaceful environment the Crowne Plaza St. Peter's Rome is a haven for all travelers. This hotel is located out of the hustle and bustle of Central Roma but still within close proximity of the Vatican and Roma”. We are surrounded by greenery in which our beautiful swimming-pool is a perfect way to rewind after a long day, the amazing Spa (900mq) and the park gives you the idea you are in a resort but in the heart of Rome. Regarding your comments about our rooms we wish to put on record that all our rooms have been recently renovated and refurbished in a new contemporary style as well as the lobby and the bar area. I've stayed at this hotel from March 23-29.I've traveled with my 6 year old child to visit grandparents. Our room was very spacious and clean, however for the last 2 nights by evening there was no hot water in the tap. Imagine dirty child playing in the park for a whole day and not being able to take a shower before going to bed.
Shift manager promised to talk to general manager and make amands, but while checking out the bill remain untouched, never heard any apologies, just like nothing even happened.
Please be aware of this, specially that Rome will get hotter and hotter from now on.

Dear Justyna K,
Thank you very much for your comments on tripadvisor, in which you drew my attention to your experience while guest at Crowne Plaza Rome St. Peter's.
I am sorry for any additional problems you may have experienced and any emotional stress you may have felt under the circumstances. I remember this problem because I was on duty to solve this unexpected lack of hot water due to an external energy supplier break.
I was the one who suggested the shift leader to offer you and your family a complimentary dinner in our Restaurant which you refused because you only wanted me to be informed and so I was.
I decided and gave full instructions in order to grant you 50% discount on the last 2 nights, and I’m very sorry to learn that the above was not done by the cashier on duty on your departure day.
I was very aware of your problem and this is why all the instructions were given in writing so I have it all on the reception log book.
I have discussed the points you raised with our employees and as a result we are confident they will be more vigilant to be sure that similar inconvenience will not be repeated in the future.
I trust you will accept my apology in the spirit in which I intend it, and that you might permit me an opportunity in future to welcome you back and to demonstrate you how good the hotel Crowne Plaza Rome St. Peters really is.
Davide Grilli, General Manager.
