Stayed 3 nights in perhaps one of the newer rooms. It was spacious (for Rome) and very quiet. Wifi was free in the room. Used the lobby computer to book Vatican tickets in advance, send the confirmation to the front desk, and they printed our receipt for us. As we are independent travelers we did not use the front desk for much, but they were kind enough when approached.

We stayed at the Adriano this past October in a Superior Room. The room was modern and clean but definitely small. It was not big enough for me to bring in my small mobility scooter. However, they found me a small nook across from our room to park the scooter. The staff was most helpful with everything....restaurants, shopping. We were impressed that the internet was free. We also liked the fact that they had shower stalls rather than bathtubs. The breakfast was lovely with lots of choice and wonderful capaccinos. The lobby area was lovely. Location was outstanding! You are surrounded by restaurants. You are 15 minutes to the Piazza Navona, Spainish Steps and Via Della Corso for shopping.

Room tip: The Deluxe Rooms are larger than the Superior Rooms if you like a little space.

I was really looking forward to this hotel but the service I received put quite the wrench in my time there. The only redeeming quality was it being in a good location to the attractions and the buffet breakfast (minus the eggs - they had enough salt in them for 2 days worth of sodium).

One of my first issues if they did a whole renovation why were the windows not replaced. I heard every car, motorcycle, conversation, music that was outside. It was impossible to sleep because of the noise. I also did not feel safe when they left the hallways windows wide-open and at night when walking through the alley area.

When I arrived the morning man took care of me. I asked the morning woman for help getting to places and everything was either 1 minute, 5 minutes, or 20 minutes. Though I came to learn to add or subtract 10 minutes because her walking times were way off. Pantheon was 5 minutes and Trevi Fountain was 20 minutes. In reality the Pantheon is and Trevi Fountain are across the street from each other.

The morning man however, was disrespectful and rude. When I tried to ask a question as to where something was he put up his hand, said very rudely to ask her, and wiped his hand in the air as to shoo me away. The next morning when I asked for him to call a taxi he threw his hands up in the air, said impossible, and ignored me. When I then asked for another way to get to the train station he said very rudely again "I don't know". Never mind that I then reminded him, after I remembered, the Spagna Metro was 10 minutes away.

This is a hotel I would not stay at again. For the price they charge I would have expected, and should have received, much better service and treatment. I also would not recommend it to friends and family.

Dear Guest,
We were horrified to read your comments about our service. We have been in the hospitality industry for more than 40 years and it’s difficult for us to conceive that our staff would treat you in such a rude manner.
Our standards for service include welcoming our guests, helping them navigate the city and other needs they could have and providing transportation, reservations, etc.
The distance that was quoted to you is an estimate and depends on the speed that you walk and if you make any stops along the way. The Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain are not across the street from each other, we think you probably mean Piazza Navona and Pantheon?
We would like to inform you that the windows are new and they do block the street noise enough so that our guests can have a restful sleep. On occasion there may be very loud street noises such as sirens, garbage trucks etc. which come through.
If everything you said is true we would have no guests or return guests to our Hotel and would not have received an award for excellence. We are sorry that you did not have a positive experience. We wish you the best.
Best Regards

I liked this hotel. It had a certain style; it felt “authentic” without giving the impression it was trying to. Part of an old building, fairly recently renovated, but preserving some original features. Unpretentious on the outside, labyrinthine inside, woven into the fabric of its area. I dare say tourists coming to Rome to experience Vespas, gelateria, and sultry Italian evenings will love this place. Its age and authentic feel didn’t mean it lacked modern amenities though; nice breakfast, air-con, modern bathroom, nice bed – all present.

My bathroom had an odd feature though. Whoever installed the shower screen on my bath apparently had no idea how they work. He installed it on the outside of the bath tub. This meant that every drop of water from the shower that hit the screen ended up, not back in the bath, but on the floor. At the end of my showers, the bathroom floor was somewhere between seriously damp and downright flooded.

And the area the hotel is in! Just great. Location is a big plus point of this hotel. Some of Rome’s major sites are but a short stroll away, and everything Rome has to offer is readily accessible. But that’s only half the story. The hotel’s immediate vicinity is a maze of narrow, cobbled streets, small squares, little cafés and bars, gelateria and pizzeria. Charming. There’s a nice little pizza shop close to the hotel, frequented by locals (always a good sign) that’ll do you several chunks of nice pizza on a tray, plus a drink, for five Euros. Recommended. Don’t confuse it with the absurdly expensive restaurant on the opposite side of the square.

The hotel’s area felt safe too – it seemed to be constantly full of police, day and night, and not mere city police, but Carabinieri, in large numbers.

It can be hard to find the hotel though; returning from my first day, it took me quite a while and an Android smartphone with GPS and Google Maps to get back. Seriously – I recommend a GPS device, or getting detailed maps of the immediate area (full city tourist maps don’t always show the detail of these narrow streets) and a compass. Really – a compass; lost near my hotel, I could sometimes work out which street I was on, but not always which direction I was facing. Equipped with a compass, I’d have got back to my hotel a lot faster. Still, getting lost in this area was quite a pleasure in itself.

Dear Guest,
Thank you very much for your positive comments. You might like to know that we have just resolved the issue of the water on the screen in the bathrooms. It was a design flaw that we were unaware of prior to guests’ usage. We thank you and others for bringing this to our attention.
About the maze of narrow streets, this is also difficult for us Romans. The centre of Rome is just that, winding narrow streets characteristically ancient and meandering. As you yourself stated it’s a pleasure to wander and discover old trattorias, art shops and handicraft shops.
Best Regards

Just spent 3 nights at Hotel Adriano. I am a fan of more modern hotels and hotel Adriano suited me well. We stayed in a superior room which was more than adequate for the time spent in the room. The hotel is so well situated in the historical centre that you are a stones throw away from lovely restaurants, shops, etc. Two negative points for us was the room had absolutely no view! The breakfast was also not great. that aside, staff were helpful and we enjoyed a very pleasant stay at Hotel Adriano.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review.
We are happy that you liked the new style of our rooms.
You can’t dispute the wonderful location we have, it’s appreciated by everyone. :-)
We are curious to know what do you mean by a view. When you are located in the centre as we are, unless you have booked a suite or a deluxe room with a terrace which overlooks the roof tops of the city center, the only views you are likely to get are the street or another building or an interior part of the Hotel.
About the breakfast, you are one of the few people who doesn’t like our buffet with a variety of savory and sweet choices as well as hot and cold beverages.
We are happy to hear that your overall experience was still pleasurable.
Best regards
