I stayed here in March of 2012. Its a very nice, newer hotel in a quiet neighborhood with an excellent staff.

Breakfast was excellent, the rooms are comfortable, There is a bar in the lobby that seems to be open at all hours for a drink or a light snack. The hotel recommended " Il Bocconcino" for dinner ( Via Ostilia, 23- 00184). It was excellent. It was casual and the service and food were very good. We strayed from their recommendation one evening ( ate at one of the nearby restaurants, where are always hawking from the street) and were sorry we did. OK, but overpriced food plus a charge for bread!

They offer a great fitness center.

The location is a few blocks from the Coliseum, however its not central. You need to take a cab or metro to get to the Vatican or attactions in the center of Rome.

Room Tip: Consider the upper floors.

I had looked at about 10 hotels before i finally decided on the Capo. I am so glad i did as it was out of this world. Such a great hotel in a brill location that really made our trip to Rome.

Quick tip to anyone who is going to Rome and doesnt want to pay the 40 Euro transfer fee that some tour operators charge. Dont pay it. When you land in FCO it is so easy to get into the city centre. There is the train which takes only 30 mins and costs 14 Euros each way or the Coach costs 4 Euros each way! If you are doing the coach make sure you book a return at the same time so you get it at 8 Euros as if you just do the single for 4 Euros it will cost you 6 Euros to get back to airport!! The coach takes about an hour but it is a nice jorney and you get to see lots of Rome as it arrives into Termini.

When we arrived into Termini we just hopped onto the metro which was two stops away from the Colosseum and cost us 1 Euro Each! Brilliant!

When you walk out of the Colosseum metro stop you are right opposite the Colosseum and about three minutes walk away from the hotel. The hotel is located on Capo D'Africa street and is very close to about ten restuarants which are very well priced and have great menus.

The hotel has a lovely reception area and the staff were brill when i checked in. They even gave us a map and pointed out all the tourist sites etc and explained how to get to them all. The Room didnt have an amazing view but the room itself was fantastic. Clean, Modern and had a lovely robe with slippers. The bed was great and very comfertable. The bathroom was a great size and again very clean.

Another tip for Rome, Make sure you book your attraction tickets to avoid the long queues! If anyone has any questions on which ones to book etc and what to do please just send me a message and i will happily help you. I booked the Colosseum, Hop On Hop Off and Vactican City.

The hotel breakfast is worth every penny and has a lot of choice and is very well presented. The morning staff were just as good as the recpetion staff.

Overall a brill hotel and have now sold it to three of my customers and i am sure they will enjoy it just as much as i did.

Room Tip: Ask for a nice view

I've stayed at other city hotels in Europe before, including in Rome, and Hotel Capo d'Africa is the best one so far. When I return to this wonderful city (for the third time; I simply must), I'll definitely stay at this hotel again! The location - near the Colosseum and metro 'Colosseo' - is excellent: the Forum, the Palatine Hill, the Colosseum, the Basilica di San Clemente, San Giovanni in Laterano, Piazza Venezia, Piazza Campidoglio, etc. are within walking distance and almost all other sites in Rome can easily be accessed by metro or bus. Moreover, the staff at Capo d'Africa are very friendly (both the receptionists and the breakfast staff), helpful and speak more than enough English. Breakfast is great as well and the rooms are extremely spacious, clean and comfortable. There are also a lot of great places to eat in the neighbourhood, e.g. the fabulous Naumachia Ristorante.

Room Tip: We were in room 218, which was excellent. I expect the other rooms are just as good, though.

The location is good - close to the Colosseum and the Ancient City - but in a quiet residential street.
Rooms certainly big enough and well maintained. Heplful and welcoming staff.

This hotel is relatively new, nicely done, with spacious rooms, fast wifi, and a nice location. It is very near the Colosseum of course, but don't miss the lovely little Parco Celio at the top of the hill, full of children playing, elderly strollers, young lovers, and gorgeous trees. The breakfast buffet is good, with very nice fresh fruit and real scrambled eggs, albeit somewhat limited in variety, but the rooftop terrace is lovely. The gym is one of the most spacious I've seen, and deserted, with good equipment, but again, a bit limited. The staff is very good and on hand 24 hours/day. As others have noted there are many restaurants tucked away on nearby streets. I have only one very minor complaint, which was the shower/bath was a bit dark and a little cramped. But I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: The street is busier and noisier than it looks, so try for a room on the back.

This is a clean, comfortable hotel, with a relatively large room by European standards. The bathroom was clean and modern. The bed was comfortable and on the firm side. Excellent blackout curtains. One downside on the rooms is the lack of a do not disturb sign. They use an electronic indicator, triggered by a light switch. But if you leave it on after you leave for the day, the hotel staff assumes you did so by accident and services the room anyway.

The staff is extremely friendly and responsive, and the speak English relatively well down to the bell hops.

The breakfasts that everyone raves about in these reviews was, in fact, a very nice continental breakfast. It is also not included in the room charge and there is no sign up telling you that. So enjoy the lovely rooftop, outdoor dinning, but keep in mind it will show up on your bill. For us, it was certainly worth it and was a very pleasant way to start the day.

The hotel is situated on a quiet side street near the colosseum. While not a pretty neighborhood, it's a safe area, free of tourists. We walked almost everywhere from this central location, although there is a subway stop about 15 minutes away.

We unexpectedly discovered that the hotel is near several gay bars (a few blocks away). This may be an added value for a same sex couple.

We would certainly stay at the hotel again.
