Following Tripadvisor reviews we booked our stay at Hotel Giuliana for six nights in early February, it was only a 10 minute walk from termini station and most of the main attractions were easily accessed on foot and the bus or underground transport was so efficient to reach any other destinations that would take a while out of your day or are a little too far.

On arrival Antonio was there to greet us, he along with the other staff were so friendly, helpful and very accomodating. The room itself was cold on arrival although warmed up quickly with the heating available, bath was a little disapointing but the room was clean, comfortable and adequate for all we needed. A lot of reviews mention the early morning noise from the market in the street, we were in room 20 which was on that side, the first morning the noise did wake us up but we found due to the amount of walking we did it was not a problem for the rest of our stay. Breakfast was a buffet that was always fresh and plentiful, cappuccino very good.

Rome really is a beautiful city with so much to see, our highlights were the Trevi fountain at night, the Collosium and the Vatican although enjoyed all of the others too. Rome could be an expensive stay but we researched before we went to ensure best budget eats, Napolli just opposite Hotel Giuliana is a very good and reasonable pizza, Pizza Forum in Via di san giovanni in laterano did a fantastic bruchetta, lasagne, water and coffee for 10 euros each, Cafe Cafe do a lovely hot chocolate for 3 euros each, forno campo de fiori also great and the hazelnut Ice cream in Il Gelato di San Crispino was stunning.

Overall we had a fantastic time in Rome, if your on a budget we would reccomend hotel Giuliana, they fully deserve all of the good reviews, I really hope to return to Rome and would stay at this hotel again. Thank you all.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for almost a week total. We left and then returned at the end of our trip. The staff were SO friendly and helpful. My boyfriend and I flew in from different location and had some trouble meeting up. Antonio put up with calls and emails from several family members back in the US. They treated us like family!

The location is amazing! A 5 minute walk from Termini, a few blocks from Via Nazionale, a main shopping street, and the Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore. The breakfast was also very nice and filling. A good variety with great coffee. The rooms were spacious enough by Italian standards. If you stay in a double superior room there is plenty of space! The little pizzeria across the street (da Napoli) is INCREDIBLE!

I would definitely recommend this hotel and we would absolutely stay here again.

Room Tip: Get the double superior instead of the regular double. We stayed in both and the superior is much ro...

What a great place to stay! Location is no more than 20 minutes from nearly any big site, big rooms with a great bathroom, coffee-store coffee whenever you want and many more things.

Wife and I stayed there for 6 nights in late February. We had room 10 which we asked for because we didn’t want to be on the other side which is over the pop-up marketplace on a side street. That might have been a little quieter because seemingly every scooter or motorcycle with a loud muffler came by the street from 6am on. But the reality was it was never an issue because even getting up at 830, Italy’s work schedule of 10-8 never made the noise an issue.

Better were the people. We dealt primarily with husband and wife team Marianna and Antonio (literally the early shift and the late shift). Seriously, it was hard to do better than this couple. Get it done in the am and the best chat after a long day. Not all Italians are this friendly or good with English and with making you feel welcome.

Our room was a pair of twins put together (just like on a cruise ship), a desk, a real safe built into the wall, night lights for reading, great window over the street, a full service bath with bidet (do Europeans really use these?) and a small refrigerator to keep our beers and sodas cold. It was literally USA size at economy (winter) rates.

Towels were like you’d read (not so thick and kind of rough) but never failed to dry after a trip to the shower that had nearly as many spouts as the Fontana de Trevi. The beds looked really fatigued with a big sag in the middle, but never once, gave a bad night’s sleep or any kind of ache. Don’t let what you see ruin the reality.

We also had free WiFi that helped us research the next day and if you needed something printed, just ask. Breakfast was the simplest of simple with a cheese, bread (and toaster), some Danishes, fruit selection, yogurt and three cereals. No meats or multiple cheeses, but really, keep it simple and have 2 espressos instead!! If you need a full breakfast just ask where to go (Irish pub and B&B down the street) and you’ll find it for 5 Euros.

Just as great are the shops and eateries within 5 minutes. We’d forgot Tums and ibuprofen - that’s right across the street. Want soda and some local goodies? Around the corner is a supermarket. Want some excellent Italian food? How about 4 places ranging from 6-12 Euros for pasta dishes. Bar Viminale was one our favorites for fast and easy, including take-away.

At the end, it was hard to leave. Rome is incredible to visit and H.G.’s facilities and people made our visit a genuine Roman Holiday. We can easily see why they are so highly regarded on internet rating sites. Contact them directly for the best deals and book soon, there’s just 11 rooms.

Room Tip: contact them direct, not through an internet site, info@hotelgiuliana.com

Rome is a beautiful city, the Hotel Giuliana is located on the first floor of a typically Roman building, nice to stay somewhere so traditional. The room was more that adequate for our needs, small mini fridge and clean bathroom, towels were replaced daily. A very good price for Rome and everything is within a close distance, short walk to the HOHO bus which was a good way to familiarise ourselves with the sites and city on our first day. Plenty of shops, and restaurants nearby.
The hotel has a small breakfast area which doubles as a Bar, prices were very reasonable and handy for a glass of wine, to take back to the room and rest our weary legs after a long day sightseeing !! We loved Rome and would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a decently priced hotel, that includes breakfast, in a central location and with friendly helpful staff. No complaints.

This hotel was amazing value for price. It cost us roughly $75 AUD for two people per night. The rooms had a great feel to them and were beautifully decorated in red. The bathroom facilities in the room were great as well.

Very helpful staff with perfect English. The included breakfast is a basic buffet, no complaints there.

However, make sure you learn to use the tram system if you want to get here without walking too far (assuming you use pulic transport). We only stayed in Rome for 2 days, and going around 10 different European countries beforehad, we had only mastered the subway system. Unforunately, Rome is not very well connected by subway (perhaps some history lessons on your tours will tell you why) so the hotel ended up being 15 minutes (slightly uphill) walk.

We stayed for a week in Rome early in February before spending another couple weeks touring Italy. We returned at the end of our trip for an extra three nights to see some of the sites that were previously closed because of the snow. The price of our previous hotel, which was excellent, had increased by nearly 50% in that time, putting it out of our range.
We selected Giuliana based on trip Advisor reviews and price, but we felt that they cut a few too many corners to keep the price down. The heating in the room is off during the day and it can only be turned on by reception. They appeared to turn it off again during the night. It takes quite a while to warm the room because it is the hot water radiator type.
Our towels were not changed during our visit, which doesn't really worry us, but since the heating wasn't on and the towel drying rail didn't work, they remained damp.
On the plus side, the hotel is only about a 15 minute walk from Termini station, it is walking distance to all the sites and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. The free wifi worked well and the included breakfast of toast, croissants, cereal and coffee was adequate.
