3 day visit to pick up on sites missed on previous trips. Hotel Margaret is an easy 10 minute walk from Termini Railway Station. It's also a short and interesting walk to Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. Metro stop 'Repubblica' three minutes away. Also bus stops 1 minute away including the express buses which serve all the major sites. If staying for three days buy 25 euro Roma Pass, we were in profit after 1st day. Hotel is on 4th floor of typical Roman appartment building, with lift available. Room and ensuite were comfortable and clean, linen and towels changed daily. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast is light continental, enough to keep you going before indulging in a Roman lunch. Would not hesitate to use this hotel for future visits.

If I was asked to say one word about hotel Margaret it would be: NOISE. Since ten years and multiple trips I stayed in many Rome hotels within the same price range and Margaret was the noisiest I ever had. It is situated on the cross-road of two very busy streets, and there is a traffic starting at 5.30 which is simply unbearable. If you want to know how does it feel to sleep under the bridge of a very busy highway, try Margaret.
Moreover the heating is largely unsufficient: it works - sometimes - from 19 up to 22.00 and not in the morning, so you take shower and go out in a chilly room, very comfortable...
there are however some bright spots: the hotel is very clean if not spotless, the towels are changed daily, the beds are firm enough, there is a good wi-fi connection.
The breakfast is ineventful: you get two types of most basic cereals (but eat as much as you like - I didn't), milk, two very water-diluted juices, one small white bread and one croissant, biscuits, butter and jam. Coffee out of the machine is horrible - shame for Italy - but good Twinnings tea along with awful Lipton Yellow was a nice surprise. One should remember that even if the breakfast is rather untasteful, the most hotels of such a category will provide you with a ticket for a coffee and pastry in nearby bar, and that is, so to have a breakfast in the hotel is a welcome feature.
AThe personal is very nice and friendly and you really feel they are genuinly try to do their best to help you but they can't help for the main drawback - noise, noise, noise. So I wouldn't recommend it unless you are a very heavy sleeper with a soudproof mentality.

This is not a 2 star hotel. It is at most a hostel. It is located at the 4th floor of a commercial building, I have never seen such thing. You have to intercom them so they unlock the heavy door downstairs. Then you have to climb a dozen steps to be able to use a very, very old elevator/lift (very scary and small). The apartment was OK for a hostel, but not for a 2 star hotel, and it was very noisy, we woke up every morning with horns and syrens from cars on the street 4 floors below, we couldn't stand it anymore. The bathroom was small, hair dryer would heat, shower box door was broken. Our service included "continental breakfast", which was basically bread, butter/jelly and coffee from an automatic machine! Worst breakfast in Europe. We considered it too expensive for what it had to offer, it should charge as a hostel, not a 2 star hotel. And LOCATION? It was 10 minutes from the Termini Station, which is a train station where you arrive from the airport, it is not a landmark. You have to walk a lot if you want to see things without taking buses or the subway.

Location near a subway and the main train/bus/subway terminal (Termini). Easy walk to where the FREE Rome tours start. We have 3 people in one room with 4 beds and a bathroom for 90 Euros a night. Wifi only works in the hallway and the bathroom doors and shower head are on their last legs. AC is so-so. We have it set at 16C but it's still slightly warm right now an it's 6:44 pm. We won't leave our keys at the front desk because we found it unattended this morning and could have easily taken a key from the box and opened another room... Scary!

Otherwise, OK place to stay.

We wanted an inexpensive place to stay convenient to the train station for a day and a half layover. The hotel provided what we needed PLUS Monica gave us great suggestions on where we might eat with our young kids and what to try to see in Rome in one day. She showed us the bus lines convenient to the hotel. She also got us a good deal on a taxi to the airport AND she had coffee ready at 6:30 in the morning on the day of our departure.

We booked Hotel Margaret after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. We were looking for something safe, clean, and close to the main attractions of Rome. Hotel Margaret was absolutely perfect for us. The rooms and bathrooms are small, but spotless. The area around the hotel was safe, and a very easy walk to Termini and/or the metro. Monica was absolutely wonderful, and gave us some excellent recommendations of places to see and the best ways to get to those places. Breakfast was as the other reviewers said - croissant, roll, juices, cereals, coffee/espresso. We were fine with it, but someone with a big appetite may not be. Definitely try Ristorante Da Giovanni across the street - delicious! When we return to Rome, we plan to stay here again, and we have already recommended it to our friends.

Hotel Margaret worked wonderfully for us. The room was small but clean, nicely decorated, overlooking the street and not at all noise-some. (we slept with the windows open and were greeted by birdsong in the morning) The staff was friendly and helpful.
It was in walking distance to the terminal and major sights and was very pleasant and, peaceful, and a great value as well. Thank you, Hotel Margaret.
