My friend and I are study abroad students in Rome for the semester and my aunt had told me I should try a gelato making class. We found this one and absolutely loved it! Paola told us to think of her as our Italian mom while we are away from home and told us we can stop by if we ever need something or just want to say hi. She is so sweet and made the class so much fun! We got to choose the flavors of gelato we made and she taught us everything while keeping us full with snacks while we worked. It's also located in the heart of Trastevere which is (in my biased opinion) the best and most charming neighborhood in Rome.

Both Paola and Lily are charming. We were a group of 5 3 adults and 2 kids ranging in age from 69 to 10. Just a really wonderful experience! Our 10 year old daughter said it was the best thing we did in Italy and I might just agree! We set up what we wanted to make ahead of time and we were so struck with Paola's generosity: touched by my husband's recollection of his mom's apricot jam, Paolo made the best preserves we've ever tasted! We learned wonderful knife skills with Lily - yes 10 and 12 year olds mastered the techniques, too!. Our class covered several pasta recipes and different shapes to make and why, and we cooked multiple sauces - including our daughter's favorite bolognese (which we make quite frequently at home now) and a citrus, mint butter that has dazzled our dinner guests since our return! I can't say enough about Paola - she is both educator and showman......and the best sort of foodie that keeps things fresh and simple. All of us walked away with great enthusiasm for cooking and the tools and confidence to try everything at home.

We booked a pasta making class for our group of 11 on a family vacation in Rome, and it was one of the best things we did on the trip. Paula and Lilly were amazing, and we all had a great time learning how to make three types of pasta. The space was nice, with plenty of room for all of us to work, and a great view over the main square of Trastevere. The pici all'amatriciana we made was one of the best things we had to eat in Italy. To top it all off, we had wine and a delicious peach sorbet. Worth every penny, and I'm looking forward to using the recipes to throw a dinner party for friends here in Atlanta.
