Incredible beef: carpaccio, tartare and chateaubriand. The tasting menus are amazing value for money.

The specialty of this restaurant are certainly the steakes: they are served on a hot iron dish to keep them warm until the costumer manage to eat them all. The meat is very good and the steak comes along with handcut, non-frozen, crispy and savory chips. Also pasta is good and tasty. Perhaps the premises are a little too small and tables to close

We were staying in the area for a city break and fancied a steak. Read the reviews which mostly seemed very positive. When we arrived, restaurant was pretty empty (8pm on a Tuesday evening). It was much busier when we left at 9.30pm.
We went in, nevertheless buoyed up on the reviews. We were seated and presented with a menu in English. However, we found it difficult to chose as it lacked description of how items were cooked and what was included.
A surly waiter came to take our order and my husband hesitated, stating he wasn’t sure what to order. Instead of offering advice, the waiter appeared impatient and said he’d come back; which he did, literally a couple of minutes later - still no advice to offer. So, we picked the first of the sharing menus, a side salad and ‘chips.’ We ordered a bottle of red - over priced at 38 euros.
The starter of carpaccio of beef and beef tartare arrived. Under seasoned, lacked accompaniments (gherkins or capers or something acidic would have helped). We had to ask for salt and pepper. We could only eat half of the plate - too much raw beef with nothing to cut through it.
Our main course arrived. Sizzling ‘Chateaubriand’ accompanied with a white truffle sauce. To be fair, the beef tasted good and my husband loved the sauce. Connoisseurs of beef may have argued whether this was the ‘cut’ as billed, however.
The mixed salad was a few leaves and some tomatoes, the chips were in fact, crisps in a wire basket. Most peculiar! There was no other potato option available.
The crisps and the salad alone, set us back 9 euros.
An assiette of desserts followed. This was a highlight for me: 2 types of chocolate mousse, 2 types of biscotti and, panacotta with raspberry sauce.
We paid the 105 Euro bill to the still surly, though now reeking of B.O. waiter, and left.
A very disappointing end to our otherwise amazing break in Rome.
Oh, and to add insult to injury, the football came on halfway through our meal!
There are so many better restaurants serving delicious food in Rome, than this.
