Trastevere rooms, for a family group such as ours (2 adults and 2 teenage sons) is perfect. It consists of three bedrooms each with its own bathroom, all very clean and comfortable. Each bedroom opens onto a central area containing a large table and a kitchenette in one corner. Breakfast provisions were supplied, something we had not expected but was much appreciated. As for all our other meals we just stepped out of the front door to find a huge choice of reasonably-priced restaurants nearby. If you prefer self-catering, or for any other extras you might need, there are two little supermarkets within two doors of the apartment building. The owner, Stefano is friendly and helpful and is a fluent English speaker. He gave us plenty of information beforehand including directions to the flat, and apart from when he met us at the start of our stay we did not see him again. (Incidentally if you arrive by train I recommend taking a taxi, it costs about 15 euros). Stefano met us outside the apartment and did his best to put us at our ease and was not fazed by me not knowing exactly what time our train was arriving. Inside the flat after a quick tour, he gave us a map of the city and went through it with us marking out where all the places of interest are in relation to the apartment, which as first time visitors to Rome we found very useful.
The location of the apartment in the Trastevere area is great for exploring Rome. It is only up the road from the Vatican and just across the river from almost all of the ancient monuments and judging from how busy the restaurants are at night it is the place that many visitors make their way to from other parts of the city. We were able to get everywhere on foot and only needed to take taxis twice, once on arrival from the train station to the flat and once when we were leaving to get to the car rental office. Overall I think this place is brilliant and should I be lucky enough to get another opportunity to visit Rome again (not guaranteed, as the Trevi fountain was covered in scaffolding and my coin was tossed into an empty stone bowl - so not sure if magic will still work), I would definitely choose Trastevere Rooms again.
