“Convenient, Clean, and Luxurious--a pleasant surprise!”
Reviewed 26 November 2011

So, I'm wondering if we stayed in the same place as the rest of the reviewers because our experience with this hotel was absolutely perfect. After reading the reviews, and travelling for a couple weeks and staying in hostels, we weren't expecting much. We were even warming up to the idea of an open shower, as we read from some of the other reviews of the this place. We got in by train at the Termini Station and the WRH Suites were conveniently located a 5 minutes walk away.
Checking in was kind of tricky. I believe we had to go to the 5th floor to check in but our room was actually on the 3rd floor. WRH owns 2 floors at the other floor is another hotel. When we got to our room, it was absolutely luxury! There was a queen bed with fresh linens, marble flooring, pretty drapes, a flatscreen TV, and breakfast laid out. The bathroom was equally as nice; everything was updated and the shower...oh the shower was the best part. Instead of the usual spout it was a circular faucet with streams of water shooting you in a circle on your head. Which seems weird now that I've typed it out...but it was AMAZING. Beyond that, everything in the suite was super clean--and I'm somewhat OCD about cleanliness.
The location of this hotel is great. Because you're right next to Termini, you can easily take public transportation. The only thing is, the station can get a little sketchy at night.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and we enjoyed our stay.

The negatives were:

1. The room - our booked room smelled like an ashtray as the previous guest clearly was a smoker. We changed rooms as a result.

2. The shower - in our original room was right in the middle of the room and did not have a shower curtain or frosted door....

3. The Metro - a streetcar runs right past the hotel, starting as early as 6am; not that we wanted to sleep all day while in Rome, however an unrequested 6am wake-up call wasn't the way we liked to start our days.

The positives were:

1. Location - this place is a 5 minute walk from the Roma Termini (train station) and is also located right across the street from a police station; a very central and safe location.

2. The Staff - both guys working at the front desk were very knowledgeable about Rome, and very accommodating when it came to things like checkout and holding our luggage etc.

3. The Elevator - while not the biggest or fastest hotel elevator I have ever been in, it just had that "european" feel to it.

4. The Price - Rome is not cheap, the city and with the Euro exchange rates. This hotel cost us $150 Euro a night. When walking around, we stopped into the Best Western nearby to check their rates, and the cheapest they had was $200 Euro a night.

Upon a return to Rome, I would consider this place again.

This is our second stay at WRH Suites. The location just can't be beat and the building has an elevator (which is more of an issue in Europe than one might think). The staff was friendly and helpful, the room clean and everything we used worked fine. (Our room was the very one I see pictured above with the red backsplash.)

Regarding mb25b's experience with the computer, I sympathize. But I wouldn't trust someone else's hardware anyway. Just bring a laptop, or iPad and the Internet service works great.

We stayed in one of the the WRH one bedroom apartments, there is a small lift as reception is on the 4th floor. First, off I have to highlight to any first time visitors, Rome is not a cheap city for the tourist. I am convinced there are tourist prices and local prices. If you speak Italian, use it I think it will save you money. These apartments compared to the Roman Hotel prices we were offered on line, gave very good value for money. The fridge and kitchenette saw significant savings on food, drink and eating out, which can be pricey in Rome. Example; 6 soops of albeit, very nice ice cream between 3 people was Euro 18.00 about £16.00 Sterling! Check out the wine in the supermarkets, a very nice Merlot for 5 Euro!

Andrea on the small reception, was very friendly and welcoming. He met us at the elevator and helped with our bags. The check in was quick, despite all the Italian paper work and we were allowed in the apartment, on arrival at 12 noon.

The apartment was basically suitable for the money paid, but could have been so much better with some simple improvements. A coat of fresh paint, removing of some of the very dated furnishings and some better cleaning would have given this place a good rating, instead of average. We think the turn around on our arrival and the previous guests leaving, saw some corner cutting on the cleaning. The bathroom was very clean and the bedding and towels all fresh, however the kitchen area and floors were not cleaned well enough. They failed to spot what looked like an exploded Coke bottle in the freezer. Although in itself not 'dirty' it looked rather horrible on inspection and should have been cleaned up.

The apartment was fully air conditioned in the bedroom and living room and believe me this was needed in the August heat, some days up to 38C (100F?). It was a split air con system so very quiet, which was needed as our apartment faced a street with a tram / light rail that started most mornings about 0530. Even with the double glazed windows, it was rather loud. Myself and another party member have no trouble using ear plugs, so it did not bother us. Another party member slept through it without ear plugs, so the noise levels, effects people to different degrees.

All the other basics were there and worked well, including the good WiFi service. Italian TV is simply appalling, so did not bother with it. There was always hot water and additional toiletries that were needed were provided on request. The bedding was adequate, but not luxurious. Excluding the tram, there was not too much other ambient noise, other than what you would expect from a large apartment building in a busy city central location and not anything that bothered any of us.

The location is one of the big selling points here. It is just two short blocks from Termini Station and is very easy to find and well labelled with a distinctive name plaque on the doorway. It is within a 20-30 minute walk or less of many of the big tourist hotspots. We walked in the heat to the Trevi, Spanish Steps, Colosseum and Pantheon. By the way please take a couple of evening walks, the city is particularly lovely on those warm balmy Summer nights. The Trevi and Colosseum are just spectacular at night!

The area is well serviced by restaurants and shops of all kinds. The apartment building is a block from the Church, Santa Maria Maggorie, and from the other side of the Church you can pick up several tour buses. We opted for the 'Cristiana' Tour company (yellow coloured bus livery) as they had an awning on their 'open topped' bus that shaded you from the blazing Summer sun. They also offered a two for one deal with the Sistine Chapel, Vatican Museum entry ticket and a 48 hour step on and off bus ticket, for 42 Euro which seemed a good deal to us. There is also a supermarket just opposite the front of the church that proved very useful.

The bottom line is, this is centrally located basic, in need of some cosmetic improvements, apartment and it delivers value for money. We paid about Euro 600 between 3 people for 5 nights. If your looking for a bit of luxury, give this place a miss. However, we would stay there again.

The location was really good - close to restaurants, the train station and other transportation to get around the city. The room wasnt that bad but don't expect to get a nice a room as the pictures shows. In our room the fridge was barely working the computer surplied was fully screwed up. They also use fancy words like hydro massage spa bath and rain shower for a bath and shower so don't fall for that.

5 min from termini station, booked junior suites, room is clean, big, bright and great. I emailed directly to hotel and they gave me discount for single occupacy for junior suite and gave me further discount for paying in cash..i ended up only paying 100e per nite net incl the tax. The suite is at level 4, the only issue is only the small and old lift..but it;s work fine coz the building is not that busy. other issue us the funny shower/jaccuzi is outside the bathroom if you are solo traveler or couple is ok, but this room is not recomended if you stay with freind unless you ok with shower naked in front of your freind....the wifi is working fine and fast...at night is quite and I can slept well.... there are many restaurant outside but they are all overpriced as the customer most of them are tourist. Be aware that those price in t hat restaurant menu are ex tax....the recieption spoken english very well....aircon it abit weak for hot summer..but I am used to with hot so no problem with me and most of place in rome i.e shopping center has weak aircon anyway..unless those in asia.....

We found this hotel on a web site and were very happy with our choice. We stayed in the apartment room which gave up a kitchen and living room area. This location is perfect for seeing all that Rome has to offer--can walk everywhere from here. Room was clean and beds were fine. There is internet access in the room which was great as we were booking hotels as we travelled and could search for our next location right from the room. Highly recommend this hotel.
