“Small room but Comfy Bed”
Reviewed 28 August 2011

This hotel is very close to the Rome Terminal. It is located on the 4th Floor. It is run by the same family on the 3rd Floor - Marco Polo Hotel. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The room is small but the bed is comfortable and the AC works well. They charge 1 euro for the small bottle of water in the room, but you can buy the water at the supermarket in the Rome Terminal for .50 euro for a liter bottle of water. If you don't mind drinking fountain water like the locals, there's plenty of cold water fountains in Rome. Just recycle your bottle and refill it.

We stayed at Hotel Sileo for 4 nights. It was better than we had expected based on Tripadvisor reviews. Our room had a mini fridge which was very useful since we could store food we had bought at the grocery store. They also had WiFi access in the main lobby. The service was really great, the owners spoke very little English but it all worked out. If we returned to Rome, we would stay here again.

We learned too late that it is generally not a good idea to get a hotel near the combined Termini train and bus station. But we did fine. We found it handy, in fact, to be so close to the key buses as we needed them often because the major sights of Rome are widely spread out (it's not a pedestrian city, that's for sure). And there were some decent restaurants with homemade-style food at a reasonable price (and others better not mentioned) near our hotel.
The hotel was pretty basic. Cute lift to get there. Friendly owner, Alessandro, who speaks little English but somehow makes you feel very welcome — and teaches you repeatedly how to avoid getting pick-pocketed. While we were there, some repair or renovation was going on in another part of the building (the hotel takes up only one floor, and there are other hotels on other floors and other business tenants of various sorts) so it was a bit noisy at times — but we were out all day and there was no noise at night. Breakfast was the typically high-carb and no-protein kind found throughout Italian hotels.
The two homemade-cooking style restaurants across from each other on the corner are worth repeat visits. Other than that, there's not much to see or do in the area and you need a bus to get just about anywhere else.
We loved the Trastevere neighbourhood and if we're ever in Rome again would stay at a B&B or small inn there — but it would cost a lot more money than we spent at Hotel Sileo. When in Trastevere, make sure you check out La Botticella restaurant.

We stayed at the Hotel Sileo as the first stop on our honeymoon and were instantly impressed by the quality of the rooms. Our double room was incredibly nice and the proprietors very accommodating. The older couple that runs the place does not speak perfect English but they know enough to communicate if you need anything. The hotel is located in a larger, apartment-style building two blocks from the main Termini train station. It does have an elevator, however it is quite small (as they tend to be in Europe). Free WiFi is available and you are able to come and go as you please. This hotel was an excellent beginning to our month honeymoon in Europe! Note: The hotel only has a few rooms so advance reservations are essential. You can reserve through their website.

We stayed here for one night because of its convenience to the train terminal. The room was basic, small bathroom but clean enough and the couple running the hotel were pleasant to deal with. The bed and pillow however were very uncomfortable the sheets were too coarse and scratchy. I woke with bites all over my arms, neck and face. Strangely my husband sleeping next to me wasn't bitten. This place was cheap enough but I would have paid more for a better standard room.

The hotel is situated close to the main railway and bus station.
I was satisfied with accomodation, the room are not luxury, but they are very cosy with nice italian furniture in it. The owners are very nice couple, which are willing to help and answer all your questions. When I come to Rome again, I will definitely stay at this place.
Enjoy the Rome and Italian hospitality.

We were a group of three adults that stayed in a room at Hotel SileoThe couple that owned the hotel were extremely nice and the daughter was very helpful. As with other reviews we found the location to be good because it was close to the Termini station (bus and rail transport) and restaurants. The Termini had "brand name" stores at the station.at the bottom floor there was a grocery store which we frequented ,since their prices were fairly reasonable esp. for water. The negative points about the hotel was that the shower/bathtub were very dirty. I am not sure but it looked like fungus growing on the doors of the bathtub/shower.Our room faced the back of the restaurant and we could smell the grease when we had our windows open.Luckily it was in the autumn months that we were visiting. so we could keep the windows closed for most of the day.it was also quite noisy because the restaurant would be cleaning up at the end of the night and the garbage containers were in the back of the restaurant .We found that the dresser had food stains still on it from the previous guests.the room was shabby and the lighting was very dim. I think they were using low watt energy saving bulbs. It did appear that there were rooms that were better than ours so we asked if we could be moved but they said all the rooms were taken. We did try to find other hotels but it was quite hard to just "walk-in" and try to find a room since some hotels were already booked to capacity and others were leery as to why you did not have reservations. It is quite hard to find a hotel at the last minute so we just tried to make the best of a bad situation. We took Rick Steeves recommendation for Hotel Sileo but now I do not think he has even stayed at Hotel Sileo.I think his recent books are outdated and the recommendations are now hit and miss.So buyer beware
