We found this little place while waiting for our colosseum tour. Seemed to be full of locals having their lunch; not many other tourists. Very quaint, and cute family run restaurant, little English spoken. The staff were amazing; really welcoming, brilliant with the children and funny! This was probably our favourite place that we tried while in Rome. The food was delicious; especially the grilled prawn main dish, and the chickpea soup. Our waitress tried really hard to convince us to have dessert/tiramisou, but we were all full. Wish we had now; reading everyone else's reviews!

Found this gem our first night in Rome. Was on the same block as our room.

Family run. Fabulous food. The antipasti is out of this world: there’s an entire buffet inside, 3 layers high running at least 10 feet.

While we ate elsewhere during the day, we ended up here every night. Why go somewhere else when you can have a late dinner with prosecco, wine, and limoncello then crawl up to bed all stuffed and happy?

Never ate the same thing twice. Never disappointed. Every meal, they brought us something on the house.

Do take care to finish what you ordered, or you may be scolded (the way your nonna would ;) and DO save room for tiramisu... the best I’ve ever had.

For entertainment, watch closely how the old man interacts with the locals. If you follow suit your next visit, you won’t regret it.

Miss this place.

While walking back to the hotel from a day at the Colosseum we stumbled upon this lovely establishment. All our entrées were delicious. Their menu is extensive. The service was attentive and quick. This is a great spot. Understanding Italian is very helpful at this establishment!

We wanted a quick lunch after visiting the Colosseum and the reviews seemed to be ok.

The food was OK (serving size was small) but service terrible.

We wanted to have anti-pasti and we were told to get it ourselves by a waitress as she said it was buffet and we saw other people getting food. Then the manager/owner came over and said to us in a very loud voice that we not supposed to do that. If we were doing the wrong thing, it's ok to tell us so, but not in that tone of voice. And when we asked the manager how to do the 'right' thing in terms of ordering, he couldn't and all he could do was repeat 'I can't tell you'.

It got to the point where we were all put off by his attitude and it ruined the atmosphere over lunch.

A month of eating our way across Rome, and this was the best find of them all! After the Forum/ Coliseum Tour, we invited our private guide, Rich Brunn, for a late lunch, and he suggested Nerone! It happened to be out of the way of the touristy spots, but just slightly up the hill and around the corner. The restaurant sits in a bucolic setting overlooking ruins and tons of greenery. Sitting under their umbrellas and eating pastas, soups, and my favorite -Roman Chicken, we knew we would be back! We ate there 4 times!! If the food hadn't been a big enough seller, the Pana Cotta would have been reason enough to return!!! Different than all the other Pana Cottas as it was softer and the fruit less sweet, but all magnificent. We enjoyed the afternoons there as well as dinner at night, with the ruins lighted, and then walked for a taxi with the Coliseum and Forum lighted beautifully! All bode for a perfect evening! We are a family of four, and all of us loved our meals each time- that was very unusual!!!
