The location is a little bit away from touristy places so you'll just see locals here which I like. I had the Amatriciana which was very good. The wine was OK. Prices were quite good.

We were recommended to this restaurant by a local who went there in Testacchio often. We asked them where they ate and found that we were delighted to eat there too. It was very easy to find, unassuming in the extreme, devour non existent but oozing atmosphere and genuine local vibe. These were the frills but it was the food that was exceptional. In particular the oxtail cooked with bitter chocolate pine nuts raisins and tomato sauce was unbelievably mellow and delicious. The chocolate ricotta tart made to order and arriving warm and just cooked was balm after a full day on the cobbled streets. We just loved this place and will return. To add to the atmosphere we were served by a budding actor who had come to Rome via London and Turin.

We went for lunch. They open from noonish to 3pm, as do most Italian Restaurants and then re-open for dinner either at 7 or 730pm.
It is a neighborhood restaurant and it has limited menu.
They also serve 'interesting' dishes like lamb entrails, oxtail, etc.
We had spaghetti and I had rigatoni.
both were ok.
The green beans were over cooked for me.
Service was efficient though.

Reserved here based on rave reviews from food writers but Agustarello was the most disappointing dining experience we had in Rome. Reserved a month ahead, but that clearly was not necessary as the restaurant was completely deserted on a Tuesday evening at 8:30 and pretty much stayed that way. The room lacked the "buzz" of a dining room full of people. Being the sole group of diners should have been a red flag, but I thought we would at least be impressed with the food. Not the case! We ordered bruschetta with fava beans and pecorino cheese. Perhaps this is a very Roman dish, but what arrived at the table was a pile of raw fava beans in the shell and a plate of pecorino cheese. I could make that at home! One of us enjoyed the second dish of pajata (veal intestine), but three of us were shocked when our oxtail stew with pasta contained a single tiny joint of tasteless oxtail. At the other occupied table in the restaurant, we did notice a huge platter of meat and when we asked the waitress what it was, she confirmed that it was oxtail. Needless to say, we were confused by the lack of generosity on our plates. The rustic dining room was fine, but the emptiness was not. The prices were reasonable but that does not make up for the lack of quality and finesse on the plates. This restaurant missed on all points--it was the opposite of what we experienced at Armando al Pantheon where every aspect of the evening was perfect. Still cannot understand why the foodie world raves about this spot! Wish it had been different!

A small, family-run local trattoria with some outdoor tables in summer. The fare is traditional Testaccio — the inexpensive 'fifth quarter' of the animal gets star billing in Rome's old meatpacking district. Offal is sensitively cooked here, so if you're a little nervous but fancy giving it a go, you'll struggle to do better: try the coratella, for instance, which is delicate rather than iron-y. Antipasti and primi are strictly traditional and heavily seasonal. Among the mains, the oxtail and the beef involtini are especially good. There's nothing modern or fancy about Agustarello and I mean that in the best possible way. It isn't trying to be authentic; it just is.
