Its a lovely apartment in a great part of Rome. Air-conditioners in both bedrooms and living room which made Rome in July quite bearable for our family with young children. Kitchen and bathroom are basic but fine. Fifth floor (125 steps) but a skinny elevator (max 2 or 1 person and suitcase) takes you to the the fourth, so not bad.
Our main problem was with the management. The DVD player did not work - something important for children when they need to stay inside as its 37C outside. We emailed HomeAway and the guy who showed us in twice with no response.
We were also very uncomfortable with the guy who handed over the keys letting himself into the apartment twice when we were not there. The second time we had agreed to meet at a certain time but he came several hours beforehand.
Worst of all, the driver HomeAway had organised and confirmed the night before did not turn up to take us to the airport. We took all our luggage to the roadside and waited. Then texted the driver, finally calling him. Unfortunately his phone was off. Not sure what to do but aware we could easily miss our plane, we went searching for a taxi to take us to the airport (not the easiest on these back streets). An hour later, when we had thankfully got to the airport and 90 min before the flight left, we got a text from HomeAway saying that the car had been delayed and another one from the driver asking for the apartment. When we expressed unhappiness to the company, we were told that these things happened and not to worry so much.
On our return when we emailed the company regarding our disappointment it was met with disregard that 'these things happen' and that it was normal for the caretaker of the house to show up at the apartment without notice. However, on our many stays overseas using apartments and vila's over the years, this is the 1st time we have experienced this.
Overall, we would recommend the apartment but not the management company.
