We stopped by here on spec with our 2-year old toddler and we were a bit anxious because the location being so central suggested it may have been a ‘tourist’ restaurant. We were proven completely wrong. The waiter brought us to a table at the back with benches where we were out of the way of the main restaurant but where we could also lie the baby down to sleep if needed, nicely done and much appreciated!
For the food we all had a starter and mains, I had the pumpkin ravioli and hubby had the mixed cheese and meats antipasti. Mine was to die-for and his plate was huge, but he still managed to finish it all! For mains I had the sea bass cooked in paper with mussels, clams and prawns, it was more of an event than a meal, the way it was served and pressed was just fabulous. Nanna had the seafood pasta which was in a red sauce and she licked her plate clean. Hubby had a steak of some sort and was also happy. Add to that a portion of chips, 2 desserts, a carafe of wine, and 7 vodka tonics and the whole bill came to around €180 which was very reasonable, particularly for the standard of service and quality of food.
Would definitely return.

We came here today for early dinner. Everything including the service was absolutely perfect. We ordered pasta and cold cut mix which was delicious.

Italians communicate really well. They speak perfect english and do their best to please you.
We let the waiter select the wine for us. Best decision ever. We’ll buy a bottle or two when we are leaving.

Il Moro will be our regular stop from now on.
Just received the check when I’m writing this.
We liked here more. Perfect place for perfect food.

We liked the look of this place. Service seemed good and the menu inviting. The salad of octopus, fennel and celery had none of the last two and the gnocci was the worst we had ever tried. it had absolutely no flavour whatsoever.

The service also took a turn for the worse as the waitress then pretended that she couldnt open the sparking red we had ordered and the waiter then "pointed" the bottle at her - all acting for the tourist.

The veal was tough and over cooked. The elderly Italian couple next to us sent their orders back.

We actually cannot find anything good to say about the meal.

Finally, when we went to pay - we had been charged €30 for a €25 bottle of wine (all the wines in here were expensive). When we mentioned this, the waiter got quite cross with us as if it was our fault.

We didnt think it was possible to have a bad meal in Bologna - we were wrong.

The name of the restaurant on the check is Ristorante Il Moro but on my credit card receipt it is Ristorante Altabella. We ate here on all Saints Day because we found it open and it had soup. We ordered zuppa pesce which was not a particularly good choice as some of the seafood was over cooked. The serving was practically a meal. We continued with fish for our primo course. Both of our choices were undistinguished.

This restaurant has other choices on the menu and they may. E better than the fish. I should know that fish is best in waterfront towns.

The service was professional, helpful and well paced.
