The owner of this bar and pasticeria is a famous Italian pasticere. We went there for a coffee and ended up having a full breakfast of sweet delicacies: BEST EVER mini pastry tarts filled with cream, heavenly biscuits and some exquisite local specialities. They also have excellent cakes or better - delicate and refined sweet creations. It's really worth visiting – not far from Piazza Maggiore.

We stayed in an apartment near this restaurant for a week, and thank goodness we found this place on the first morning. We went back just about every day, including Christmas Day (open until 1:30). The food is beautifully presented, and the busy staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. As other reviews have mentioned this is more than a coffee place - the coffee is excellent but it is the wide variety of excellent pastries that make this a standout. If you are are anywhere near the Porta Castiglione you should make a stop here. In the early evening the place is a bar.

This place is off the beaten path, located right at the porta Castigione and very popular. They make good coffee, but even better, it's one one the few members of the "Accademia Maestri Pasticeri Italiani" in Bologna and the pastries are outstanding good and available all day long. You can ask for the wifi password and have internet access. Nice, covered outdoor sitting, not touristy at all.

Probably the best cream in Bologna and every single food served is delicious. Price is in line with quality.
The only issue is the staff: if they were paid from tips, would starve.

Everything LOOKS very lovely, but that's just the point. The look is more focused on than the actual eating quality. I have been on a number of occasions and quite enjoyed what I've had, but more for the presentation than the actual taste. I recently took a friend of mine for breakfast and was disappointed to be given a less than average pastry with very little flavour and a lukewarm cappuccino. A bit expensive, too.
On the plus side, I would recommend the lovely selection of exotic teas.
